Detailed in a blog post on Call of Duty's website, the latest batch of post-launch support looks to add a wide variety of content when Season 2 launches at the confirmed date and start time. Beyond adding things such as new maps and modes, Black Ops Cold War is adding an array of new weapons - six of them. All of the weapons being introduced can be attained through completing related challenges or reaching a certain tier, although the Season 2 Battle Pass is required. Conversely, players can purchase the new weapon blueprints as they become available in the store. The list of all of the new weapons players can soon get their hands on is as follows:

  • FARA 83: The fully automatic assault rifle boasts one of the highest DPS in its class, along with exceptional damage falloff range. Available when Season 2 launches, the FARA 83 can be obtained by reaching Tier 15.
  • LC10: A fully automatic SMG, the LC10 is ideal for those who prefer close-quarters combat. The agile weapon possesses solid accuracy and an extended effective damage range, which helps to compensate for its low damage per shot. It also features low recoil and an above-average fire rate. Players can get their hands on the LC10 by getting to Tier 31.
  • ZRG 20mm: A bolt-action sniper rifle with serious power, the ZRG 20mm has the fastest bullet velocity in its class. The long-range weapon trades firing rate for sheer power, able to one-shot an Operator from the head, chest or shoulders. While the individual rounds may be slow, the sniper has one of the fastest reload speeds in its category.
  • E-Tool: This new melee weapon is a military-style tri-fold shovel. The blog claims this secondary weapon is just as effective as an ancillary when used at point-blank range.
  • Machete: A special weapon, this foot-long steel blade is the melee item of choice for Naga, one of Black Ops Cold War's new Operators in Season 2.
  • R1 Shadowhunter: Another special weapon, the fan-favorite crossbow makes its return to Black Ops. The silent killer is accurate even when firing from the hip, and can be equipped with a range of optics.

Only the first two weapons have the methods to attain them listed in their description, as the FARA 83 and LC10 are the only two to be available at Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2's launch. The rest of the armaments will become available at some point during the season, although it's unclear when exactly.

Beyond Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War selling incredibly well, the Call of Duty League hit big numbers in its opening weekend, amassing 1.3 million unique viewers. Up 70 percent from 2020's opening weekend, the CDL's increasing popularity is a prime example of how esports are becoming some of the most watched live sporting events in the world. It should be interesting to see how these new weapons will factor into competitive online play.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
