Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's first season of content was undeniably gigantic. More weapons, more modes, more story; there was even a surprisingly meaty mid-season update as well. And from the looks of things, Season 2 seems to be just as big.

Announced earlier today on the official Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War website, the second season promises a bunch of new game modes, playable operators, and new weapons for players. And anyone who's highly anticipating its release won't even need to wait for too much longer, as the update is scheduled for February 23rd, which is less than a week away.

The rolling update will take place between 9pm and 11pm PT, which is 12am and 2am ET and 5am and 7am GMT on February 24th. Regardless of time zone, it'll take place in the late evening or very early hours of the morning, so players can go to sleep knowing it'll be already once they wake up. As for Call of Duty: Warzone, it will receive the update the following day between 9pm and 11pm PT on February 24th and 12am and 2am ET and 5am and 7am GMT on February 25th.

Developer Treyarch also mentions that these updates will include a bunch of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes for both games. Both Warzone and Cold War seem to have retained a notorious reputation for being constantly riddled with bugs and glitches of various kinds. Most recently, Warzone players have reported a bug that would allow them to see their opponents through walls.

Many players haven't been subtle about their continued frustration with how bugs such as this continue to fester, but some of the games' issues aren't limited to just bugs and glitches. League Play was finally added after much fan demand, but its implementation drew criticism because of things like the ranking system not making sense and certain rules not being enforced.

Despite the seemingly endless barrage of complaints and criticisms that have been lobbied at the games since their launch, the Call of Duty series is performing better than ever financially. It's only been out for three months, but Cold War has been reported to now be one of the best-selling games ever in the US market.

The new official esports scene is also growing as well. The Call of Duty League was only established last year with its inaugural season and the second season of professional play recently kicked off, with the opening weekend drawing in big numbers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
