After months of rumor and speculation, Activision has finally pulled the curtain back on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. As part of an ongoing Warzone battle royale event, Activision has confirmed the Black Ops Cold War release date, revealing exactly when the latest game in the long-running first-person shooter franchise will be available to the masses.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War release date is Friday, November 13. The game will launch with the three main Call of Duty experiences that fans have come to expect from the Black Ops series. This means fans will be able to play through a single-player campaign, the traditional Call of Duty multiplayer, and finally, Zombies. The Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode will focus on "dark Cold War experiments" for co-op gameplay.

Besides confirming the Black Ops Cold War release date and game modes, a slew of other information about the game has come to light as well. For example, it's been confirmed that there will be no free next-gen upgrade for Black Ops Cold War. Any fans wanting to upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will need to purchase the special Cross-Gen Bundle, which costs $10 more.

In the meantime, it's also been revealed which studio was focused on which part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War experience. It appears as though Treyarch developed the online multiplayer, whereas the single player campaign was developed by Raven Software. This is notable because Raven Software hasn't developed an original project since the Singularity FPS in 2010. For the uninitiated, Singularity was a well-received FPS for its time, but didn't exactly become a massive sales success.

A ton of information on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been released today, and there will be more news coming sooner rather than later. A proper Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal will take place on September 9, at which point fans will also likely get more specific information on when they can play the open beta. The open beta will be available for PS4 users first and those that pre-order will get early access, but no other information on it has been confirmed at the time of this writing.

Fans should also get a more in-depth look at the Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode at some point down the line as well. All things considered, it looks like Black Ops Cold War should definitely appeal to fans of the franchise, and it will be interesting to see how fans react once they've had time to process all of this information.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches November 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
