Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans have been looking forward to the game’s “80s Action Heroes” event, as many are excited to play as some movie icons. Unfortunately, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans are not impressed with what they have seen from two of the leaked skins.

Confirmed to arrive on May 20, the Die Hard and Rambo skins will see the films’ two leads brought to life inside the game. Like Leatherface and Jigsaw from last year’s Haunting of Verdansk, these are fully licensed characters as opposed to tributes. As such, they will include the likeness of the actors, with the faces of Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone being seen on the icons. Unfortunately, fans do not seem too happy with the final products.

In the case of John Rambo, Redditors like Rainbow_Frats have pointed out some concerns with his overall look. Referencing a popular meme in the post’s title, the Rambo fan compares the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War version of the character to Mortal Kombat 11’s take on Rambo. While Mortal Kombat's engine is geared more toward detailed character models, the difference is very clear. In particular, players feel that Rambo is far too short and skinny, with the hero’s muscles slimmed down too far. Many feel his eyes are inaccurate as well.

Over on the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit, Reddit user SithKain calls Rambo a “sad clown” and asks for Infinity Ward’s skin designers to return. An image of Call of Duty’s Die Hard skin is also included, with many quick take issue with the character’s size. While the likeness to Bruce Willis had been praised, gamers once again feel that the character is too skinny — particularly when it comes to his shoulders and head. Redditors like a_bachelors_dust point to the odd hair, while others feel McClane’s neck is too long.

In one final thread started by PapaProto, fans continue to offer their criticisms for the skins. However, gustavo_the_bonehead gives their fellow players a bit of hope, as the gamer points out that the images are pulled from Call of Duty: Warzone’s engine. As shown when the games have been compared in the past, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War models do not translate over to the battle royale’s engine nearly as well. With this in mind, the two characters may look a bit better inside Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Still, fans were clearly expecting a bit more from these renditions of the 80s action icons. With a Terminator crossover supposedly coming as well, it will be interesting to see if the in-game Arnold Schwarzenegger satisfies the game's community.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
