Now that it's officially out, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is being embraced by the Call of Duty crowd. That doesn't mean it's without problems though, including glitches in its Zombies mode that players have been using to boost their weapon levels.

Zombies is a time-honored tradition in Call of Duty by this point, and has been since debuting in Call of Duty: World at War. The mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has come a long way since then, both in complexity and its strange storyline. However, it's been troubled lately with a problem that seemed to have no easy solution regarding weapon XP.

The problem is, quite simply, that Zombies mode awards a dismal amount of weapon XP. Players have been complaining about the problem for a while, but it's only part of a larger problem. The weapons in Cold War take longer to level up in general than in previous titles. While Zombies and Multiplayer weapon XP are one and the same, it still takes a long time to level up the weapons. Fortunately, Treyarch announced a fix for the Zombie weapon XP problem was coming, and now it has finally come to pass.

Treyarch's solution was to simply raise the amount of XP earned by players in Zombies. It seems simple, but it reverses a decision Treyarch made earlier this month. On November 24, a patch reduced the XP gained by players, leading to players resorting to exploits in Zombies mode to level up their weapons. With this newest patch, the XP earned has been raised in both Zombies mode and Multiplayer. Hopefully, weapon progression will be smoother and faster this way, and players will no longer have to hunt for alternative XP measures.

This was the major point addressed by the patch, but it wasn't the only one. The patch also addressed a bug that allowed Cold War players to go out of bounds in Nuketown. Out of bounds bugs can be really obnoxious, so it's good this one was fixed so quickly.

Thanks to the additional XP, players will be able to fully enjoy Zombies mode without having to worry about grinding for their perfect loadout. Now they can get back to hunting down the myriad Zombies mode Easter eggs that come standard with every Call of Duty zombies mode at this point.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
