Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launched with the goal of semi-realism in its combat situations. Players can watch the environment be affected in small ways like breaking glass, splashing through water, and other minor effects throughout the game. While most of the effects hold true, however, fans have noticed that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War can be anything but realistic at times.

There are multiple situations that break the tone of realism in both the old and new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War maps. While most of the time fans do not notice, when the effect breaks a game feature the community begins to get frustrated. One of the more recent bugs to be discovered in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is one that makes calling in care packages rather difficult.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Reddit user myheadsmt posted an honest question to the official Reddit page: "Why do care packages not fall through the open skylights?" The user is referring to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War map Raid where an obviously open skylight is blocking a summoned care package. While there may be some gameplay reason for this to exist, the community questions both the realism and practicality of such a thing. When the player called in the care package, they expected it to simply drop through the skylight onto the ground. Instead, the very heavy box only bounced slightly and then sat in an unreachable location.

The community has expressed frustration and levity over this situation as many bugs and glitches have become an expected feature. In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the Care Package flair notifies players where they can and can not drop a care package. For it to allow the box to be summoned at a skylight, and then simply block its fall, goes against the functionality of the scorestreak.

Players point out that in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's map Terminal, players were able to drop care packages through skylights. Many players simply do not understand why a feature that was easy to perform in 2009 was unable to make it into the 2020 release.

To make this even more questionable, players can clearly shoot rockets through the open skylight. Although it appears to have a glass ceiling, players have frequently proven that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's weapons can easily pass through the air. The fact that the skylight should be easy to bypass pushes forward the theory that this is an unreasonable and unexpected bug in a modern title.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
