Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans have been searching through every nook and cranny of Firebase Z in hopes to find all the map’s side easter eggs. During these hunts, an upgrade for the Monkey Bomb was found, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans looking for a laugh should give the side quest a go.

This is not the first time that the monkey bomb has been upgradeable in Call of Duty Zombies, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s Gorod Krovi map saw a special side quest that unlocked an upgrade for the mode’s iconic tactical grenade. Changing the Monkey Bomb’s music into dubstep and allowing it to kill enemies with each bounce on the floor, the upgrade proved popular enough to make a return in the Zombies Chronicles remasters.

With Gorod Krovi’s influence on Firebase Z already being seen with the returning Mangler mini bosses, it makes sense that the new Zombies map would also include a Monkey Bomb upgrade quest. Fortunately, this new upgrade is far less involved than the one on Gorod Krovi, and it should be easily doable in every game without much extra effort. Posted to YouTube by the popular content creator Glitching Queen, players looking to complete the easter egg should have two monkey bombs equipped.

With the Monkeys ready, players should head to one of the three Aether Generators used to activate the map’s power and start Firebase Z’s main quest. At this point, it is as simple as racking up 50 kills with the Monkey Bombs, a task that should be easy given the damage they do. As pointed out by Glitching Queen in her video on the upgrade, a full train of Zombies is more than 30 long — meaning that only two full trains of Monkey Bomb kills should be needed for this upgrade.

Once players have gotten these Monkey Bomb kills, they should notice that the Monkeys are a bit different once thrown. While they keep the same appearance, their music is more akin to a hip hop beat than the classic jingle. Beyond this, any Zombies attracted to the Monkey Bombs will now break dance, which serves as both a fitting nod to the 1980s setting of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and a hilarious feature for players to show to their friends.

Considering that Firebase Z has terrifying easter eggs to see as well, it is nice to see something on the lighter side. With a good mix of silly and serious side content available to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans on the new map, it should keep players entertained for some time to come.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
