Later this week, Call of Duty gamers can look forward to the big Season 1 mid-season update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and the Warzone battle royale. While the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War mid-season update has already been announced, Activision has confirmed some fresh details about what fans can expect from the update when it goes live for both first-person shooter games on Thursday, January 14.

One of the biggest additions is the new Fireteam map for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in the form of Sanatorium. Images of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Sanatorium map have leaked online, giving fans a good idea of what to expect when the map goes live on January 14. It will feature land, air, and sea vehicles for players to utilize, which should make the Fireteam match type even more chaotic than usual.

As far as standard Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer goes, players can look forward to the new game mode Dropkick. Dropkick is a new 6v6 mode where the goal is to hold on to a briefcase containing nuclear codes in order to rack up points. How fans respond to this new mode remains to be seen, but Call of Duty enthusiasts will find out if it's any fun when it goes live later this week.

As far as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Zombies experience goes, fans can look forward to a new fast-paced version of Zombies. Zombies Cranked makes it so players constantly have to get kills, as each kill resets a timer that, if it reaches zero, will blow up the player. This is very similar to the Cranked multiplayer mode that has been featured in past Call of Duty games, so it will be interesting to see how well it works in the Zombies setting.

Those on PlayStation have some exclusive Zombies content to look forward to with the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 mid-season update. The PlayStation-exclusive Zombies Onslaught mode is adding the fan favorite Black Ops 2 multiplayer map Raid to the lineup with the January 14 update.

Activision has teased that there is even more content coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in Season 1, so fans should have plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead. A new Zombies map is confirmed for Season 2, but further details on it have not been revealed at the time of this writing.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
