Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans may not agree on much, though one thing that most of the community does agree on is Miami’s quality. With many players disliking the map and refusing to vote for it whenever it appears, Treyarch has gone out of its way to redesign Miami, and the new version of the map is coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War soon.

This is not the first time that a map has been changed based purely on player feedback.  Thus far, Moscow’s boundaries have been shrunken down to make the map flow better, sightlines have been improved on Crossroads Strike, and a broken camping spot on Satellite has been removed completely. Cartel’s bushes were also trimmed, serving as the most important change to a map prior to what is being done with Miami.

The latest Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War map rework sees Miami becoming Miami Strike, with Treyarch showcasing some of the biggest changes in a brief video on Twitter. Like Crossroads, this will serve as a much smaller version of Miami, as the map will remove many of the huge lines of sight that favor snipers and campers. Instead of an abundance of open, unnecessary areas around the central hotel location, the new map will focus on the Paramour building and the streets that surround it.

Much like Crossroads Strike, players can expect this map to be incredibly hectic, as its small scale will see players getting into fights constantly. This could be exactly what the map needs, however, as small maps like Nuketown always go over well with a majority of the Call of Duty community. Further, while the map will not be the best for using aerial scorestreaks, its reliance on interior areas should allow the War Machine and Death Machine to thrive.

The other important change about Miami Strike is the time of day that it is set in. While Sanatorium will be becoming a nighttime map in Zombies Outbreak, the multiplayer fan base will see Miami Strike being set during the day. Providing a different look from the neon-filled original while simultaneously addressing flaws with the map's lighting, this should make the map feel even more distinct. With Treyarch’s Tweet confirming that the map will arrive next week, and playlist updates happening on Thursdays, players can expect it to debut on April 1.

While some players would surely prefer new 6v6 maps instead of improvements for old ones, it is hard to deny that Miami needed some proper attention. Hopefully, this new variant is successful, allowing the least-liked map in the game to become a popular play space.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
