Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player is experiencing a glitch that should pique the interest of players everywhere. The glitch in question potentially reveals a new, unannounced mode may be coming to the game.

Developer Treyarch's fifth entry in its Black Ops series officially launched on November 13. The game has been met with a fairly positive reception, with some players praising its innovative campaign, while others are critical of ongoing online gameplay issues. The cross-generational title received its Season 1 Reloaded update last week, which added a new weapon, map and modes, with more planned for next month.

Detailed in a post on Reddit, user theManJ_217 posts an image that appears to blend both the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War matchmaking screen as well as a notice of a mode not currently in the game. The notice is for Gunfight Tournament, something Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players will find familiar. Gunfight has been extremely popular with the CoD community since its inception in the 2019 reboot. The mode features two teams of two in intense, close-quarters combat, where both teams are given a random loadout at the beginning of each round. Every round ends under sudden death circumstances, and the process repeats until one pair is victorious.

While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has seen more than its fair share of bugs and glitches, including things like major hit detection issues and a Semtex glitch that makes players fly, this is one that is being seen as a positive development. However, given that the regular version of Gunfight was only just added at the beginning of Season 1, it would be logical to assume that Treyarch is planning to introduce Gunfight Tournament later down the line. Gamers should also take the info with a grain of salt, as it is just a still image, although it would seem like a natural evolution of Gunfight's expansion, as proven by the Gunfight Blueprint playlist just added.

Should Black Ops Cold War follow in Modern Warfare's footsteps, it would give players even more opportunities to earn XP and bonuses, something the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise has been generous with. Black Ops Cold War's frequent double XP weekends and its free Zombies access week have gone a long way in retaining a huge player base.

The player base is so huge in fact that Activision Blizzard stocks hit an all-time high because people won't stop buying Call of Duty. Despite the franchise usually catching plenty of flak from certain circles of the gaming community, its immense popularity proves its strengths far outweigh its weaknesses.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
