Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s highly-anticipated second season of content includes more weapons, maps, modes, and now, a free access week for new players to enjoy. Players who download Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War between February 25 to March 4 can gain access to a selection of Zombies and Multiplayer free of charge.
Starting February 25 at 10 am PT, fans and newbies alike are invited to experience the latest content coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This includes the major expansion to Zombies, which is led by an all-new game mode called Outbreak. Outbreak expands on the Dark Aether storyline established by previous Zombies modes and is being described by developer Treyarch as a “large-scale Zombies experience.”
PlayStation owners gain exclusive access to Onslaught, a fast-paced two-player Zombies experience. Set on a variety of Black Ops Cold War’s Multiplayer maps, duos are tasked with defeating waves of increasingly difficult enemies to earn in-game rewards like exclusive Weapon Blueprints.
Those looking forward to a more traditional Call of Duty multiplayer can explore Season Two’s newest map by playing the Apocalypse 24/7 playlist. The playlist features a mixed bag of game modes that all take place on Apocalypse, a small-to-medium sized jungle map built for action-packed gameplay.
Long-time Call of Duty fans will be happy to see Gun Game make its Cold War debut. For the uninitiated, Gun Game tasks players with progressing through a pre-determined set of 20 weapons in a free-for-all environment. The game mode made its debut in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops and has since become a favorite among the community.
Other multiplayer modes available to players during the free access week include Gunfight Blueprints and Face Off, as well as classic playlists like Team Deathmatch and Domination. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s 40-player multi-team mode, Fireteam: Dirty Bomb, will also be available to players looking for a completely new approach to multiplayer.
Those who already have the game will be happy to hear that the free access week coincides with a Double XP and Double Weapon XP weekend. All players can earn double experience starting February 26 at 10 am PT. The additional experience points will be incredibly useful for players tackling Season Two’s new prestige tiers and ranking up Cold War’s latest weapons.
To participate in the free access week, players need only to download Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War from the digital store of their preferred platform. The free access week begins February 25 and ends on March 4.
