The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War game mode Fireteam Dirty Bomb has been steadily gaining in popularity, which makes the rise of a new bug tied to the mode particularly frustrating. Fortunately, Treyarch has assured Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans that a fix is on the way.

Fireteam Dirty Bomb is Treyarch’s answer to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Ground War, with the mode boasting the interesting premise of pitting 10 squads of four players against each other. With vehicles and armor mechanics combining with fully unique features such as bomb detonation, which temporarily coats the map in poisonous gas, Fireteam Dirty Bomb has steadily grown in popularity since the game launched. However, one new issue is stripping away some variety from the mode.

While previous Fireteam Dirty Bomb glitches have seen players randomly dying, this latest bug sees entire maps removed from the mode’s rotation. A few weeks back, Fireteam Dirty Bomb players realized that the Alpine map was missing from the mode’s rotation, with Treyarch supposedly fixing the issue by re-adding the map back into the game. However, players have now found that the only playable map is Alpine, with the other locations removed from the playlist entirely.

Treyarch quickly responded to this issue via the game’s Trello page, ensuring that a fix is on the way. While the team works on getting the problem fixed, a 24/7 playlist has returned for the new Sanatorium map. As mentioned by Treyarch, “players may continue to see Alpine only when searching in FTDB modes with mixed maps.” While it is great to see the team provide a partial fix while a greater solution is being worked on, it seems like fans of the Ruka map are out of luck, as the map is currently unavailable in all playlists.

While no specific date is provided for the playlist bug fix, it will likely be introduced at some point over the next few days. With Treyarch updating its playlists every Thursday from now on, January 28 is the likely date of arrival for the Fireteam Dirty Bomb solution. If the issue at hand is larger and requires more of the team’s attention, though, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players can expect a fix to come sometime around February 4 — as this is the date of the game’s next big content drop.

With Fireteam Dirty Bomb locations supposedly making up Call of Duty: Warzone’s next map, players can expect to see a lot more of the three locations going forward. For now, though, only two of the three 40-player maps are currently playable within Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
