Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans have been looking forward to February 4, as today marks the release of Firebase Z. However, a game-breaking glitch has already been discovered, killing the hype of some Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has experienced several bugs in all its modes, with the mode negatively impacted by COVID-19 and Call of Duty’s yearly release schedule. While Zombies glitches have been less devastating overall, larger bugs have still shown up on a few occasions. Unfortunately, the latest issue is one of the worst yet, and it only happens on the game’s brand-new Firebase Z map.

While players may want to take on the map’s new easter egg or survive into the high rounds with the RAI-K 84 wonder weapon, a new bug is ruining the experience for some players. As shown in a Reddit clip from Kwoppers, a player is training Zombies in Firebase Z’s village location. While everything appears to be working as intended, things take a turn for the worst when Kwoppers falls through the map. Rather than continuing to plummet indefinitely, the player lands on a bit of floor below, looking up at Firebase Z.

While Kwoppers could kill himself and hope that his teammates survive the round, he would come back with no salvage and an un-upgraded weapon — making this bug game-breaking and terribly frustrating. The new Tombstone Perk likely would not help, either, as the player’s Tombstone would surely appear under the map upon respawning. Unable to reach the drop to reclaim their weaponry and resources, there seems to be no workaround for this annoying bug, meaning that players will have to wait for Treyarch to provide a fix.

This is not the first time players have been seen falling through the map in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as multiplayer fans have dropped through Moscow’s floor on several occasions. However, it is a new bug for Zombies fans, as Die Maschine players were not seeing this kind of issue when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launched. While Zombies fans have encountered XP glitches, armor station bugs, out of map exploits, and portal issues, this Firebase Z problem is one of the most game-breaking yet.

Hopefully, Treyarch can deliver a patch for the issue as soon as possible, as a new map’s launch day should be special for fans. With the Firebase Z easter egg quest being activated tomorrow, fans should not have to worry about the game not working while they find out what happens to Zombies’ cast of characters.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
