Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players have requested change for numerous features, with Treyarch delivering on weapon nerfs but ignoring calls for skill-based matchmaking adjustments. The latest push for change comes in the form of Double XP tokens in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, with many players finding the current system unfair.

Boasting a similar system to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Double XP boosts, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's tokens are activated from the main menu. Earned via the battle pass and limited time programs, the items give players access to Double XP for periods ranging from 15 minutes to an hour. However, rather than only tracking in-game time, the token timer ticks down while waiting in pre-game lobbies or searching for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War matches.

With so much time wasted, players would surely like to see August’s infinite XP token bug return — though a second coming of the beneficial glitch is unlikely. What makes the issue particularly frustrating for fans is that they called out the problem several times during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s lifecycle. As such, players are even more disappointed to not be getting the full Double XP time promised by each token. Recent issues with finding matches in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War have led to even more lost time, and a post from Redditor Tritonpr95x highlights the issue.

Amassing over 8,000 upvotes, players are clearly in support of the Reddit user’s idea regarding in-match time being the only thing counted. However, while many players agree with Tritonpr95x’s stance, the comments are filled with players saying that the tokens will not be fixed. With the system remaining the same throughout all of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare despite similar posts being made, changes will likely not come in the new Black Ops title. As such, players would be wise to make use of the game’s upcoming Double XP event for New Year's.

Unfortunately, this is not the only issue players have had with Double XP tokens this month. Players that saved up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s XP tokens ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Warzone integration found that the tokens were stripped from their accounts. As such, players were outraged regarding the removal of items they paid for, though Raven eventually restored the XP tokens to inventories.

Hopefully, Treyarch takes a similar approach to Raven and listens to complaints regarding the coveted Double XP items. With XP possibly being nerfed in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, fans will need all the help they can get when it comes to leveling up.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
