Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is in the midst of its 80s Action Heroes event, and players can enjoy plenty of Die Hard and Rambo-themed content inside the FPS. However, it seems like there is another surprise reward that some lucky Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans can get access to.

While there are some standout modes like Die Hardpoint available as part of 80s Action Heroes, the real highlights are the Operator bundles for the event’s guest characters. Both John McClane and John Rambo are purchasable for a limited time, and each bundle comes with finishing moves and weapons ripped straight from the Die Hard and Rambo franchise. The characters also deliver lines pulled from the films, keeping their voices and likenesses intact.

While the bundles serve as a major attraction, and being able to perform Rambo’s iconic yell is a ton of fun, those that have bought one of the packs may have opened themselves up to a previously unmentioned bonus item. As shown by Redditor XNoOneLovesYouX, some gamers are being sent a code for a free rental of the original Die Hard. If received, the code will last for 14 days after redemption, giving viewers a full two weeks of access to the film. These promotional codes must be redeemed before July 5, however.

Redditor _nagrom_ shared a similar photo, though their code was tied to a free rental of the first Rambo film instead. As of now, it is unclear if there are any other Rambo movies or Die Hard films are on offer. Regardless, players now know that they have a chance to get free rental codes for either the first Rambo or the original Die Hard, and some believe that they have figured out how the codes are being distributed.

First, it seems like the program is exclusive to Xbox, meaning that PlayStation and PC users are out of luck when it comes to the free rentals. Secondly, Redditor MiniMuffinMage suggests that the pool of players that is being picked from is made up of bundle purchasers. If this theory is true, those that bought John Rambo or John McClane on Xbox are eligible for the chance to receive a code. Others believe that the process is not tied to the bundles at all, with all Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players on Xbox having a chance.

Either way, the selection process is randomized, meaning that not everyone will be getting a free rental code. Still, those enjoying the 80s Action Heroes event should keep an eye on their Xbox messages, as there is a chance that they could be given access to the bonus reward.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
