Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans have pushed for several changes, and one of the most requested adjustments is tied to mastery camos. Fortunately, it seems like change is starting to come, as one Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapon now looks significantly better with Dark Aether equipped.

Though mastery camo changes are one of the biggest changes that fans have pushed Treyarch to make, they are far from the only one. Fans have also mentioned how much they miss Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s customizable scorestreaks, and more recently, they have pushed for classified map voting in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. While it is a bit late in the game’s life cycle to add new mechanics like these, it seems like Treyarch has at least heard the demands for better mastery camo coverage.

Though the game's community has been vocal about all the mastery camos, as fan-made Gold camo reworks have been posted, Dark Aether has been the biggest topic of conversation. This is likely because of all the work that needs to go into getting it, as the camo is only unlocked after every other Zombies camo has been acquired. With this requiring a lot of kills with many different weapons, it takes a lot of effort and dedication on the part of players. Fortunately, Redditors like ChefRagnarok are pointing out that it might now be worth the grind.

Treyarch silently updated Dark Aether camo for the QBZ-83 Assault Rifle, and players can see the before and after comparison in the Redditor’s post. While the camo was previously limited to the side of the gun, it now covers the sights and barrel. While there are still some darker attachments, much of the gun is now covered, which is exactly what gamers had been requesting. Redditor jazevado_ shows the gun from another angle, showing just how much better it looks than the original.

As of now, it remains to be seen if this is a singular fix or if the other weapons where Dark Aether is lacking will also be adjusted. While the QBZ-83 is improved, Redditor Schwarth shows that there are several other big offenders when it comes to camo coverage. The M60 remains particularly bad, as the gun is mostly a massive barrel. As such, Dark Aether is only on portions of the gun that are barely visible. While this Dark Aether camo fix is nice, it will hopefully be the first of many.

Still, with post-launch Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons like the C58 and MG82 having full coverage, Treyarch has clearly heard the criticism. For QBZ-83 users, Dark Aether camo should finally be worth the effort.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
