Treyarch is kicking off the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer beta later this week for those on PlayStation 4. And while comprehensive information on what exactly it will entail is still unavailable at the time of this writing, the studio has released a new trailer that shows off some of the content that fans can look forward to in the Black Ops Cold War online multiplayer beta once it goes live.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer beta will feature a variety of maps and game modes for players to try. A map list has yet to be released, but the Black Ops Cold War beta trailer does confirm some of the game modes that players will be able to test this week. The Black Ops Cold War beta modes listed in the trailer include Team Deathmatch, Domination, VIP Escort, Kill Confirmed, and Combined Arms.

Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Kill Confirmed are longtime Call of Duty game modes that should be familiar to most fans. However, VIP Escort and Combined Arms are completely new match types making their debut in Black Ops Cold War. Combined Arms is a 12v12 game mode that plays like a super-sized version of Domination on large maps, with the goal of capturing six flags. The mode is also notable for its use of vehicular gameplay, with the available vehicles changing depending on the map.

VIP Escort, meanwhile, is a much different experience. In VIP Escort, two teams of six compete with one person serving as the "VIP," armed with nothing but a pistol, a smoke grenade, and the Spy Plane scorestreak. The goal of the team with the VIP is to escort them to an extraction site, while the goal of the other team is to kill the VIP. Players are able to revive each other in VIP Escort, though each team has a limited number of lives to work with.

Call of Duty fans who want to try out Black Ops Cold War's new game modes ahead of its launch on November 13 should be sure to try the multiplayer beta while it's live. Those that pre-order Black Ops Cold War on PS4 can play the beat from October 8 to 12, whereas the beta will be open to all PS4 players starting October 10. Those that pre-order on PC or Xbox One can play the beta from October 15 to 19, whereas the beta will be open for everyone across all platforms October 17 to 19. PS4 gamers can play the entire second weekend regardless of whether or not they pre-order the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
