Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans have been looking forward to the AMP63 for some time now, as it is different from the other handguns in the game. However, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players that have acquired the machine pistol have found that it does not function properly in Zombies.

Considering how much work needs to go into unlocking the AMP63, major issues existing with the gun is a bit troublesome. The challenges see players needing to get 5 handgun kills in 20 multiplayer games, 5 kills in 20 matches of Call of Duty: Warzone, or 400 pistol headshots in Zombies. A bundle can also be purchased to unlock the AMP63 instantly. Regardless of which method is used to obtain it, players are struggling to handle the weapon inside of Zombies.

Playing a match on the Firebase Z Survival map, Redditor Gunna-Burger showcases that the AMP63’s aim assist is completely broken inside of Zombies. Running around the village and deliberately aiming to the side of the undead enemies with the gun, the weapon refuses to snap to their targets like with other weapons. While the aim assist would normally be noticeable anyway, the fact that the player has the Deadshot Daiquiri perk equipped makes the issue even more noticeable.

Normally, Deadshot will lock onto heads automatically, as it joins increased headshot damage as one of the perk’s main abilities. This skill makes it incredibly powerful for taking out hordes quickly, as trains of the undead can be taken out quicker with headshots. However, this classic Call of Duty Zombies perk is essentially useless when paired with the AMP63 at the moment, as aim assist with the weapon is nowhere to be seen. With several commenters saying that they have noticed the same issue, as well as similar posts from fans like soldier4hire75, many are dealing with the problem.

Fortunately, Treyarch has recognized that there is an issue with the gun, as community manager FoxhoundFPS has clarified with fans that the information has been forwarded to the Zombies team. He also tells fans that a Trello card will be added soon, giving them somewhere to look for updates on the issue. While there is currently no ETA for a fix, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans can expect the aim assist to be added in one or the game’s future updates.

Until a patch arrives that restores aim assist for the AMP63, Zombies fans working toward the Dark Aether mastery camo should use the weapon's dual wield attachment. With Deadshot also providing a significant hipfire boost, this is the only way to make use of the perk’s abilities while wielding the AMP63.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
