Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War consistently gets new playlist updates, and this week will be no different. However, one of the new additions could be the most popular yet, as it will see 6v6 maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War getting a lot more intense via a 24-player playlist.

This will not be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first attempt at 12v12 gameplay, however. While it has not received much post-launch support in the way of new maps, the Combined Arms game mode is entirely built on the concept. However, its maps are extremely large, with much larger versions of Armada and Crossroads used. With both maps filled with vehicles, these matches are often far more slow-paced than what is usually seen within a Call of Duty arena.

However, Charlie Intel has confirmed that this week’s playlist addition will see Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans enjoying 12v12 gameplay on regular 6v6 maps. Areas like Moscow, Satellite, and Checkmate will be filled with more players than ever before, while classic locations like Raid and Express will likely receive the same treatment. As a result, the matches will likely be hectic, with gamers getting into several gunfights no matter which lane they take in a map. However, this is exactly what could make the playlist a hit with fans.

According to Charlie Intel, the playlist goes live on May 13, giving fans of the game something to look forward to this Thursday. With the iconic map Nuketown confirmed to feature, other small locations like Miami Strike and Crossroads Strike may appear in the playlist, too. Small maps usually prove incredibly popular with the Call of Duty community, as a lot of players enjoy the chaos seen within them. In turn, playlists that raise the player count have been received well, too, making the combination a guaranteed success.

While many will surely love the 12v12 option, it will be interesting to see how long it sticks around. While Nuketown 24/7 stuck around for a full month after its debut, it eventually left the rotation. Other popular playlists have suffered the same fate when it comes to a removal, so fans should be expecting his mode to be limited time. Still, with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s party game playlist sticking around this week, an extended run for 12v12 is possible if it proves popular.

Charlie Intel also notes that a new Gunfight Tournament is coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, bringing fresh rewards for 2v2 fans to fight for. With a nice blend between large and small player counts, this is one of the more well-rounded playlist lineups thus far.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
