Well Vikings fans, Brett Favre did it again. In the midst of a potentially game winning drive, he throws an interception that seals another Minnesota loss. But, every cloud has its silver lining, and this one came in the form of the promised Call of Duty: Black Ops campaign trailer.
A considerable amount of footage and gameplay demonstrations have been shown of Black Ops so the expectation going in was that this trailer wouldn't present anything new or mind-blowing. Boy were we wrong. Not only does the trailer set up the story (more on that later) but it has the player racing on a motorcycle wielding a shotgun. If ever there becomes a dictionary that consists only of pictures, that would be the definition for awesome.
Some other highlights include the destruction of a space shuttle launch, watching as one of your teammates falls helplessly off a helicopter, and a sequence that has our main character seated at a chair with a gun placed in front of him. My hope is that in the final game we get to participate in the first virtual game of Russian Roulette. How awesome would that be?
From the Call of Duty: Black Ops teaser trailer, we understand that one of the reported two main characters, Alex Mason, will be acting behind enemy lines and without government approval to take down the bad guys. If the trailer is any indication, things must not go according to plan. Explosions abound and what little player-controlled sections we could see look pretty impressive. As a game franchise that has been able to submerge gamers in its experience, I don’t think Black Ops will disappoint.
Our hearts might be hurting after watching record-breaking Brett Favre balk at the chance to be a hero but what remains of our body is jumping for joy because Black Ops just became even more of a must-have game. I’m sure if Brett Favre sees this trailer he will feel a lot better.
What do you think of this new Black Ops campaign trailer? How badly do you want to play this game?
Call of Duty: Black Ops is set for a November 9th release date on the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and DS.
