Without a doubt, one of the most highly anticipated aspects of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is learning of the forthcoming first-person shooter's Zombies mode, especially since the release of a recent report claimed that the sequel will focus more so on it and multiplayer instead of the campaign. Speaking of Zombies, while it has yet to be openly confirmed by Activision and Treyarch, it seems as if the official Twitter account for E3 has inadvertently outed the mode ahead of its formal reveal.

As seen in the tweet below from the E3 Twitter account, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 fans might see a showing of some kind focusing on the game's Zombies mode at this year's annual gaming event, as there will be a panel featuring creators discussing the history of the long-running franchise staple. However, not much else is mentioned about the mode, so there's no telling exactly what kind of content it will offer, save for some zombie slaying action.

The confirmation of Zombies for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 shouldn't come as a surprise to many fans of the first-person shooter franchise, but it does make one wonder if E3 will be the place where the mode is first showcased. Activision and Treyarch currently have the game's global reveal set for May 17, so it's quite possible that the campaign and multiplayer could be the on display then, while Zombies will be saved for E3. Of course, this is simply conjecture at this point.

All things considered, while Zombies will surely be a high point for many Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 fans, a rumored battle royale mode could wind up usurping the undead-heavy feature in popularity. Thanks to titles like Epic Games' Fortnite and Bluehole Studio's PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds dominating news cycles, a major trend favoring battle royale titles seems to continue on an upward swing, and Treyarch may be able to dedicate a solid amount of time to put its own unique spin on the genre that outshines Zombies. Then again, we will simply have to wait and see what's in store for us when Black Ops 4 is more fully revealed.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set to launch on on October 12, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
