The PS4-only Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta has come to a close, but the next round is right around the corner. This time, PC and Xbox One players will join PS4 users in trying-out the upcoming game, and all players will get hands-on time with a brand-new secret mode. All Xbox One and PS4 players will have to do to join in is download the beta, but it's never quite so simple for PC users. Fortunately, Treyarch has just released the minimum and recommended specs needed to run the beta.

The absolute minimum requirements for successfully running the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta include an i5 2500k CPU (or equivalent), a Radeon HD 7850 or GTX 660 2GB GPU, 8GB of RAM, 25GB of hard drive space. As for the OS, the beta is compatible with Windows 7.

As for its recommended specs, Treyarch suggests using an i7 4770k CPU (or its equivalent), a GeForce GTX 970 or 1060 6GB GPU, 12GB of RAM, 25GB of hard drive space, and the Windows 10 OS. Other recommended GPUs include the Radeon R9 390 and RX 580.

Treyarch stated that these specs are specific to the beta and are subject to change. As the full game is releasing in October this year though, it's likely that these specifications won't change too dramatically. After all, radically shifting the system specs this close to release would likely cause many PC players to skip the game entirely. One won't get too excited about Black Ops 4's unique battle royal mode if they can't count on their ability to run it.

The next beta period for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 begins August 11 at 10am; those that pre-ordered the game will be able to play it a full day early. The buzz that's emerged from the aftermath of the PS4 beta has been fairly mixed so far, but that could change. Maybe Treyarch will fix the overpowered item the PS4 beta players were complaining about. Maybe they won't. Maybe, the secret mode Treyarch has been teasing is an incredibly fun addition to the game. Either way, all will come to light this weekend.
