One of the most popular Call of Duty: Black Ops maps of all-time is undoubtedly Nuketown, which has appeared in every Black Ops iteration, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. If recent leaks are correct, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be receiving a rendition of Nuketown set in the popular Zombies mode.
Like many Call of Duty games and the Black Ops installments before it, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has a Zombies mode that builds on the foundation set by previous iterations of the same mode. In the case of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, players take control of one of four different characters, each with their own unique weapons and equipment and united behind a common cause. The group sets out to find the father of one of the playable characters across different maps, including that of Greek mythology-based Ancient Evil, and fight off hordes of Zombies in the process.
As there is still Zombies DLC that is yet to come out, some are wondering what the next add-on entails. So far, Black Ops developer Treyarch has teased the next DLC on multiple occasions via Twitter with the following tweets.
The first image posted by Treyarch displays an eerie small girl levitating in midair holding a teddy bear. The background bears a striking resemblance to Moon, a Zombies map in the Rezurrection DLC for the first entry in the Black Ops series.
The second image displays the words "Alpha" and "Omega," whose caption indicates that the next DLC is the beginning of the end. It is then stated in the tweet that the next Zombies map will be arriving July 9. It is worth noting that in the letter "A" of this image, there is a nuclear bomb-like icon where the connective line would usually be.
Following the tweets, dataminers may have discovered what is in store for Black Ops 4 players. In the game's most recent update, dataminers found a file containing the loading screen for what is the next Zombies map. Conclusively, the loading screen image appears to be that of a still of the Nuketown map. The school bus in-between the two houses alone is indicative that players will soon be defeating hordes of Zombies in the suburban simulation in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Many fans will likely be delighted to hear this news. As Nuketown is one of the most popular Call of Duty maps in history, it would make sense to utilize it as a basis for a Zombies map. Zombies mode has a notable history itself and Nuketown's second use as a Zombies map is quite telling of its sheer popularity among fans.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
