Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has had a number of unconfirmed leaks surface in the past weeks; just recently, it was revealed that the game would not have a single-player campaign mode. We have yet to know if any of the leaks are true, and will be learning more at the official Black Ops 4 community reveal event on May 17.

However, today a Twitter user revealed that the multiplayer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be similar to Blizzard's Overwatch, which is an online-only FPS and strategy game that has gained over 35 million players worldwide. Call of Duty news outlet CharlieINTEL has verified the information to line up with rumors it has been given personally. The leak claims that not only will Black Ops 4's multiplayer be similar to Overwatch, but will also gather elements from Boss Key's new multiplayer FPS LawBreakers. The leak confirms that Black Ops 4 features a "mixture of boots on the ground and advanced movements with many changes to the game’s core systems."

black ops 4 will take from bo3's movement

Playtesters "claim that it is less like a Call of Duty mode and more like a Call of Duty Overwatch or a Call of Duty Lawbreakers." It makes sense that Activision would be changing their games to fit Overwatch's standard - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered adapted the same cosmetic-only supply drop system as Overwatch back in 2016.

The leaker went into more detail on the mixture of BOTG and advanced movement - "The game was going to take the 'hero' or 'specialist' system from Black Ops 3 and take it to the next level. Perks were basically removed completely, and had instead been morphed into a strange kind of Kill Streak."

The leak talks more about the multiplayer gameplay on top of the movement system, too. The "normal kill streaks" didn't exist in the version of the game sources had played, which was described as "in the worst state you have ever seen a Call of Duty multiplayer mode." Instead, kill streaks came in the form of powerful perks, one of which included a movement system similar to Black Ops 3's advanced exo-suit jumping. "This fell flat with playtesters. They didn’t like it at all. It was deemed an unfair portrayal of Call of Duty, and something that wouldn’t resonate with fans in the slightest. So, as of the last play test, things are changing."

Not only does the leaker say they are "concerned" for Black Ops 4, which might be also getting a battle royale mode, but they are "even more concerned for Treyarch as a development studio." However, CharlieINTEL mention to take this piece of info with a grain of salt.
