Later today, at 10am Pacific time, Activision and Treyarch plan on properly unveiling Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 to the public as part of a special livestream event. However, the game's box art has leaked ahead of time, and it may offer an idea of what the upcoming shooter has in store.

The leaked box art for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 features three characters standing in front of the game's logo. The characters appear to be outfitted with what look like exo suits, leading to speculation that the game will see the return of this controversial equipment. Beyond that, the box art also seems to confirm that Black Ops 4 will have female playable characters, similarly to past games in the series.

call of duty black ops 4 box art leak

Since this Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 box art leaked last night, it has started appearing on some gaming websites as an ad. This basically confirms that the box art is genuine, and in turn, it seems like a safe bet that exo suits of some kind will be returning in Black Ops 4. Exo suits, which have given players jetpacks and the ability to wall-run in the past, have been controversial in previous Call of Duty games, with some wanting the series to stick to its boots-on-the-ground roots.

Last year's Call of Duty: WW2 returned to the boots-on-the-ground approach and saw the franchise's sales bounce back somewhat after its Infinite Warfare low, so it will be interesting to see if there's another dip with Black Ops 4. However, even if Black Ops 4 sees reduced sales compared to its predecessors, fans can still expect it to stand tall as the best-selling game of the year, as is typical for the Call of Duty franchise.

Something that may really help boost Black Ops 4's sales, even if its exo suits are met with disdain from the community, is the inclusion of a battle royale mode. Multiple sources have confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have a battle royale mode as a means of competing with the likes of Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and we may very well get our first look at the mode during the presentation later today.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will launch on October 12 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
