Despite the fact that Activision plans on releasing the beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout battle royale mode in less than two weeks, there's still very little we actually know about what the mode will entail. In fact, we don't even know the official player count yet, but there is now some evidence that suggests it will have up to 100 players.

Datamining efforts have suggested that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode will have 100 players. However, it's been noted that this has only been tested, and may not actually make it into the final version of Blackout. It's also possible that the final version of Blackout that releases on October 12 will allow for 100 players, but the upcoming Blackout beta may only support 60 as previously rumored.

A leaked image of Black Ops 4's battle royale mode has suggested that the max player count will be 60 players, which is a departure from the norm for battle royale games. Most battle royale titles, including genre juggernauts like Fortnite and PUBG, feature a minimum of 100 players, so it would be somewhat strange for Black Ops 4 to only support 60 players instead of the standard 100.

It's worth pointing out that this is far from a confirmation of the final player count for Black Ops 4's battle royale mode. It's likely that Treyarch has yet to lock in a specific number itself, as the mode is still in active development, even though we're just one month away from the game's launch in October.

The Blackout beta on September 10 may provide some of the answers fans have been hoping for in regards to the Black Ops 4 battle royale mode, but it may also not necessarily represent the final product. After all, there have also been suggestions that other features supposedly planned for the final release - like zombies in Verruckt - won't be in the beta for one reason or another.

Of course, it's possible the information about zombies being in Blackout is incorrect as well. Ultimately, we'll just have to wait for Activision and Treyarch to share more information before we'll have concrete answers about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on October 12 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
