Use this Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 guide to complete the Shadows of Evil Easter Egg, unlocking the 'Beginning of the End' achievement/trophy in the process.

Any fan of Treyarch's Call of Duty games should know by now that the developer enjoys stuffing as many Easter Eggs as possible into the experience. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is no exception, and just like its predecessors, Black Ops 3 has Easter Eggs galore. The biggest one, as usual, can be found in the Zombies mode.

The Zombies map in Black Ops 3 is known as Shadows of Evil, and tasks players with completing an Easter Egg to Pack-A-Punch (upgrade) their weapons, as well as unlock the achievement/trophy called "The Beginning of the End." This is a multi-step process and will take quite a bit of practice to achieve, but with our help, it shouldn't be too much of a headache.

We have created an entire step-by-step guide on what to do to complete the Easter Egg in Shadows of Evil, but for those that would rather refer to a video, the YouTube channel ActionPacked has prepared a video guide detailing the Zombies Easter Egg. Check it out below:

1. Collect the Summoning Key

The first item needed for the Easter Egg is the Summoning Key, and it is found on Easy Street (the starting area), on the back of a truck in a box with chains all over it. To break this box, use the nearby purple torch to transform into the "Beast", a tentacled monster that has three abilities. Pull the left trigger to shoot electricity, which is used to charge switches on the map, and pull the right trigger to grapple onto eagle head statues. Click in the right analog stick to perform a melee attack, which can be used to break the box on the back of the truck, as well as other boxes and similar-looking doors. Objects that the Beast can interact with typically glow with an orange light, so keep that in mind.

Smash the box on the back of the truck with a melee attack and collect the Summoning Key, which is in the shape of an orb. The next goal is to collect four sacrificial items and perform the rituals associated with them. Keep in mind that the items and the rituals can be done in any order. Furthermore, this entire Easter Egg can be completed co-op or solo, a recent and appreciated Zombies trend that started with Exo Zombies in Advanced Warfare.

2. Lawyer's Pen Ritual

The Lawyer's Pen is right outside the Easy Street gates, in an area of the map known as Junction, which has a crane in its center. Transform into the Beast again and charge the switch on the side of the crane to power it up. This will cause the crane to rotate and drop a crate to the ground. Go over to where the crate fell to find the Lawyer's Pen amidst the remains. Picking up the sacrificial items will cause floating demon-like enemies to spawn called Keepers, but they're easily killed. They're much less intimidating than zombie mannequins, that's for sure.

Anyway, return to Easy Street and become the Beast. Right above the Easy Street gate is a grapple point for the Beast. Grapple up there and move through the apartment to the other side. Follow the stairs down to find a switch to power up. Hit the switch with a jolt of electricity and return to human form. There will now be a new set of stairs on Easy Street that allows access to the apartment while in human form.

Go to the apartment as a human and interact with the altar in the center of it to begin the first ritual. Basically, these rituals require players to fend off hordes of Keepers and sometimes Cthulhu-like beasts as well, until a Gateworm appears. Collecting the Gateworm will signal the end of the ritual, and obtaining all four of them is one of the main goals of the Easter Egg.

3. Detective's Badge Ritual

While at Junction, locate the gate that is labeled "Canal District." Transform into the Beast again and walk through the murky canal water, smashing two doors that are imbued with the orange glow in the process. One of these will reveal the Detective's Badge behind some metal bars, and the other will be important later on. In the meantime, continue to follow the canal to the end to find a switch, and zap it with electricity before returning to human form.

As a human, follow the canal to where the bars were. By powering up the previous switch, the bars have been lifted, allowing access to the Detective's Badge. Collect it and defeat the Keepers that spawn. Next, locate the building with the large, red neon sign that reads "Ruby Rabbit", and take note of the anchor point on the balcony. Transform into the Beast, grapple onto the balcony, and then drop down to the bottom floor. Go down the stairs, zap the switch, and return to human form.

There is now a new set of stairs that allow access into the Ruby Rabbit as a human. Head inside and climb the stairs to the top to begin the Detective's Badge ritual. Kill all the Keepers that appear and collect the Gateworm. At this point, it would be wise to consider visiting the hotel in the Canal District and purchasing Juggernog before continuing to the next step.

4. Promoter's Championship Belt Ritual

Return to Junction and this time locate the gate that is marked as the "Waterfront District." Open it and transform into the Beast again, following the alley to an open area where a mystery box spawn point is located. Facing the mystery box spawn point (or the mystery box itself, if it happened to spawn there), turn to the right. Look up to see an anchor symbol. Grapple to the fire escape, and smash the box that's hanging here with a melee attack. Return to human form and go to where the box fell to find the third sacrificial item, the Promoter's Championship Belt.

Now head to the docks, which are accessible through the Waterfront District. There's a door here that leads to a small boxing arena, so smash it open as the Beast. Inside is the sacrificial altar, so interact with it to begin the third ritual. If it gets overwhelming in the arena, don't be afraid to head out to the docks where there's a little more room to maneuver. Return to the arena once things have died down and snag the Gateworm when finished.

5. Hairpiece Ritual

Return to Junction, go through the Footlight District gate, and then turn into the Beast again. Look up at the roofs of the buildings here to spot a grapple point. Use it, and then after landing, use the ramp to jump across to a ledge with a box on it. Smack it with a tentacle to make it fall to the ground below. Return to human form and collect the Hairpiece that falls out of the box.

In this same area, there is another gate that leads to a sort of theater district. Here is a cabaret theater with a grapple point on it that allows access to its roof. As the beast, grapple to the roof of the cabaret theater, and zap the switch. This will open the front doors of the building. Return to human form, head inside the theater, and complete the ritual as usual.

6. Pack-A-Punch

Collecting the fourth Gateworm at the theater will cause the achievement/trophy to pop, but the Easter Egg serves a more important purpose. That is, completing the Easter Egg is necessary to access the Pack-A-Punch in Shadows of Evil.

Travel back to the Canal District. Remember when we collected the Detective's Badge? Two doors were smashed as the Beast, one of which would be important later. With the four Gateworms collected, a portal will be there now, allowing access to a brand new area of the map.

Going through the portal will initiate a fight with a slew of Keepers and zombies. Kill them all and then head to the wall on the far end of the area with the glowing symbols on it. Approaching it will cause the wall to explode. On the other side are four different torches to place the Gateworms. Doing so will then power up the Pack-A-Punch portal, and with that, the Easter Egg is complete! Much less annoying than some of those convoluted Exo Zombies Easter Eggs, huh?
