In a recent update, Activision announced a hard stance regarding Call of Duty and its anti-cheat measures. After community and content-creator pressure has grown, Activision says it will take decisive action in regards to cheating within Call of Duty titles. While it does not have a permanent solution as of yet, the company seem to be doubling its efforts in preventing hackers and cheaters.

Previously, Call of Duty's publisher Activision announced a zero-tolerance position on cheaters and cheat providers. While massive ban waves, anti-cheat measures, and the banning of Engine Owning have assisted in buffing up Call of Duty's security, hackers continue to find a way around the many mechanisms. Now, Call of Duty is reasserting its position and telling fans it is working toward a more secure game experience.

The announcement outlines steps Activision has taken in preventing hackers and cheaters within Call of Duty titles. From weekly security updates, improved reporting systems, two-factor authentication, and the elimination of third-party software providers, it has worked toward making Call of Duty titles hacker-free.  Now, the company is increasing its efforts by upgrading the game's detection technology, adding new resources in monitoring, and enforcing the zero-tolerance policy for all cheat providers. Hopefully, the developer and publisher actions will help reduce the Call of Duty hacker problem, but fans are waiting for those actions to back up the developer's words.

In the announcement, the company acknowledges the constant threat of cheaters. While hack developers continue to work to exploit and disrupt gameplay, Call of Duty is dedicating 24/7 resources to combating cheat and hack programs being actively used.

One interesting point from this announcement is the assurance that the efforts extend to the entire franchise. Call of Duty: Warzone's developer Raven Software will take the lead on security updates, and it seems that the company is making a warranted shift toward a secure title.

This is not the first time that Call of Duty has promised increased anti-cheat measures. The announcement does come with the reveal of 60,000 account bans and 30,000 permanent bans, but fans are aware that bans have not solved this problem in the past. Call of Duty: Warzone, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are all in desperate need of security updates. However, this announcement could be the first step in finally ending the hacker problem.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
