Call of Duty has released some intriguing collector’s editions over the years, and for Treyarch’s next game, this concept should be revived. Die hard fans of the series have been able to collect real life RC-XD cars and night vision goggles, with plenty of other bonuses like art books and badges made available as well. Though the two most recent entries in the franchise have lacked collector’s editions, it would be nice to see them make a return with Treyarch’s next release.

Treyarch perfected the art of collector’s editions through Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, as both games’ most expensive bundles leaned heavily into content based on Zombies. Not only is the Zombies community extremely passionate, guaranteeing interest in these editions, but the mode is full of unique weapons and items that could be turned into expensive real life props. As such, Treyarch has only scratched the surface with Zombies merchandise, and a collector’s edition for Call of Duty 2024 would surely be exciting for longtime fans.

Call of Duty Zombies Collector’s Editions Have a Strong Track Record

For many, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is seen as the peak for Zombies, with the Zombies Chronicles expansion following an already excellent DLC season. Before super fans even experienced the strong gameplay of the mode, though, the stage had been set through an exciting collector’s edition. The main draw was a fully functional Juggernog mini-fridge that perfectly captured the in-game model, with some Perk-a-Cola coasters and a gorgeous Zombies-themed steelbook also being included.

While opinions on the Chaos Story were mixed, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 collector’s edition was another big hit, as it gave fans access to a working version of the new narrative’s mystery box. While far smaller than the one from the game, the crate would light up when opened and make noise, with a good amount of space inside to hold other items. A unique Zombies-themed puzzle was included within this edition, too, as well as some large Lithographs based on the three main launch maps. Some neat Figpins of the Chaos crew and the first issue of the Chaos-focused comic book run were included as well, making for a package that leaned even more into Zombies.

Given how fun and unique the Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4 collector’s editions were, a new Treyarch collector’s edition should aim to match the quality of those packages. To do this, it will need one main item on par with a Mystery Box or Juggernog mini-fridge. Fortunately, the developer has many options. A working Monkey Bomb could be an entertaining choice, as would a Ray Gun replica. Many unofficial Wonder Weapon models have been created over the years by fans, so an official one that lights up and makes noise could be a possibility.

While the main draw would likely be something like a Monkey Bomb or Wonder Weapon replica, Treyarch could go more traditional if it wanted to. Including a statue of an iconic Zombies character like Tank Dempsey battling Hellhounds could be cool to see, as would a figurine of a memorable Zombies mini boss like a Panzer Soldat. A record featuring all the hidden Zombies songs from over the years would be another fun item, especially if it features the music from the 2024 game as well.

As for the smaller collectibles, Treyarch once again has many options. A small Pack-a-Punch model or keychain could be fun to see, as could some more Figpins that feature characters like Samantha Maxis or another puzzle. In its recent Zombies modes, Treyarch has teased Wonder Weapons via blueprints that show how the weapon was made and describe its function, so perhaps blueprint posters would make a fun addition to the collectible lineup. Perk logo patches or even bottle caps is yet another fun opportunity. Though the expected items like a steelbook case would surely feature, Treyarch could do a lot with all the other items in the hypothetical collector’s edition for Call of Duty 2024.
