The 2023 Call of Duty game may be revealed on August 1 if the latest leaks and rumors are any indication. Call of Duty leaks start happening around this time every year, and it seems the upcoming 2023 version is no exception.

There were reports indicating that Activision was actually going to skip releasing a full-fledged new Call of Duty game this year. If so, it would be the first time since 2005 that there wasn't a new Call of Duty game on the market. Activision has pushed back against these claims, and right now the expectation is that there will indeed be a new Call of Duty game this holiday season. Official details on what the project will entail are unavailable at the time of this writing, but a new report may have leaked an important date CoD fans may want to keep an eye on.

As reported by Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, someone with a proven track record of accurate Call of Duty leaks, it seems the next game in the long-running first-person shooter franchise is going to be revealed on Tuesday, August 1. The reveal is said to be taking place as part of an in-game event, following a trend that started with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's reveal a few years ago. The report indicated that August 1 was "penciled in," so the plans could be in flux.

Fans should always take leaks with a grain of salt, but Henderson has accurately leaked plenty of Call of Duty news in the past, so there's no reason to doubt him now. If the new Call of Duty game isn't announced until August, it will mean that fans will know about it just a few months ahead of its official release date. There are pros and cons to this approach, but it should mean that fans shouldn't have to wait terribly long after the reveal to jump into a beta.

Previous rumors indicated that the 2023 Call of Duty game may come in the form of a campaign expansion for Modern Warfare 2 as opposed to a truly brand-new experience, but that remains to be seen. Ultimately, Call of Duty fans will want to wait for official details from Activision. In the meantime, there should be plenty of new content for Modern Warfare 2 and the Call of Duty: Warzone 2 battle royale to keep CoD enthusiasts occupied while they wait to learn more about the 2023 game.
