With 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare such an incredible sales success, a sequel was inevitability. Activision confirmed not too long ago that the 2022 Call of Duty game would be a sequel to Modern Warfare developed by Infinity Ward, and now it's confirmed more details. The 2022 Call of Duty game title has been officially revealed alongside a new logo.

As previously leaked, the 2022 Call of Duty game is titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The hashtag posted with the original post writes it as Modern Warfare 2, but the official Call of Duty Twitter account has hashtags that use Roman numerals as well. It was previously reported that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be titled Modern Warfare II with Roman numerals to differentiate itself from the 2009 MW2, and if the logo is any indication, it seems those reports were correct.

Regardless, this Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reveal is coming pretty early in the year for a Call of Duty game, as recent entries have waited until the end of the summer to announce their titles and other details.

It's possible that the mixed reaction to Call of Duty: Vanguard and the backlash to the Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific map is fueling Activision's desire to promote this year's Call of Duty game way ahead of schedule. And since we already have a logo and title, one would think that a proper gameplay reveal will come sooner rather than later. It wouldn't be surprising if fans get their first glimpse of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gameplay much earlier than they saw Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard.

Of course, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is only one half of the equation when it comes to Call of Duty's 2022 plans. It was previously confirmed that a new Call of Duty: Warzone experience is being built alongside Modern Warfare 2, though it hasn't been confirmed if it will actually be launching this year or just shown off. Call of Duty fans will have to wait for more information on that front.

Whenever Activision decides to reveal more about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it will be interesting to see if the rumors about the game turn out to be accurate. Rumors claim that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have a new game mode that's been compared to Escape from Tarkov and that it will include major Gunsmith changes, but all that remains to be seen.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is in development.
