Update: Sony has postponed the June 4 PlayStation 5 reveal event, meaning it's highly unlikely that Call of Duty 2020 will be revealed on that date.

Original story follows.

Every year since 2005, Activision has released a new Call of Duty game without fail. This year will be no different, with Call of Duty 2020 planned to launch this holiday season. However, the new Call of Duty game has already broken a franchise tradition that has been going on for over a decade.

For over 10 years, Activision has announced the next Call of Duty game by the end of May, as pointed out by Charlie Intel. Unfortunately for Call of Duty fans, the next Call of Duty game still has yet to be revealed, and barring some surprising announcement later tonight, it doesn't seem like it will be announced this month. On the bright side, all signs point to the Call of Duty 2020 announcement still happening within a matter of days.

Leakers have suggested that the Call of Duty 2020 reveal will happen on Thursday, June 4 at 1:00pm PT during the PS5 game reveal event. This would make sense considering Activision and Sony's relationship regarding the Call of Duty franchise, though fans should still take the information with a grain of salt. Regardless, it may be a good idea for Call of Duty enthusiasts to tune in to the PS5 game reveal event on June 4 just in case.

While Activision hasn't officially announced Call of Duty 2020, leakers have given fans an idea of what to expect from the game. If the leaks are accurate, Call of Duty 2020 will be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, developed by Treyarch, and will be a reboot of the studio's Black Ops sub-series. It will reportedly feature popular characters like Alex Mason and Frank Woods, and will feature some levels set in Vietnam.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is also rumored to be bringing back some fan favorite maps from the original Black Ops. This includes Firing Range, Jungle, Nuketown, and Summit, though fans should be able to expect some brand new multiplayer maps as well.

And finally, Black Ops Cold War will supposedly have Zombies, though fans shouldn't expect it to have a new battle royale mode. Instead of Black Ops Cold War having BR, the rumors point to it just retaining the Warzone battle royale from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare instead. Fans should find out if there's any truth to these rumors sooner rather than later, even if the game is not at the PS5 game reveal event on June 4.
