A new rumor has started circulating regarding the upcoming debut of Call of Duty 2020. Fans have been gathering clues from inside Call of Duty: Warzone and a popular Call of Duty insider and leaker have been piecing everything together slowly. While more updates in Warzone bring out interesting bits of information, fans are slowly getting closer to the truth behind the upcoming Call of Duty title.

The upcoming title is from Treyarch and Sledgehammer games. Many fans are expecting it to be a Black Ops reboot, but there may be something more interesting in the works.  The codename being used for Call of Duty 2020 is Project Zeus. Although this could mean several different things, Twitter user TheGamingRevolution has his own solution to the puzzle. With fan anticipation growing, it is only a matter of time before the reveal of Call of Duty 2020 later this year.

It is no secret that the upcoming game will reportedly have some major story changes to the game's campaign. Recent leaks and connections point that the plot to Call of Duty 2020 might involve former President John F. Kennedy. Famous Twitter Call of Duty leaker TheGamingRevolution points out that when translated, the Ascension code details the Kennedy assassination.

It hints to Alex Mason, suggesting that he was the one who killed the popular American President. In addition, TheGamingRevolution points out that there is a known book titled "Counsel of Zeus." This book follows an alternate timeline where Kennedy was not assassinated. Putting all this together, fans have an idea of a possible plot to the upcoming Call of Duty title.

Although not a confirmation, this is a very interesting and potent observation from the leaker. Neither Treyarch nor Activision have commented on his speculation, but that not negate the possibility that it could be true. With a title like Call of Duty: Cold War, players could interact with a unique timeline in which Kennedy still lived and the cold war took a different turn.

This could make for an interesting reboot to the franchise, as it fits right into the era that Mason and Woods existed. To even hint that Alex Mason would be involved with the Kennedy assassination is a risky leak. Still, references to the president have been seen in Zombies, so the idea that the next game could be in an alternate timeline is not completely out of this world.

Call of Duty 2020 is reportedly in development.
