For over a decade, Activision has consistently revealed the next Call of Duty game by the end of May. However, Call of Duty 2020 has broken that tradition, with the game still yet to actually be shown off to the public. Activision has given no indication of when it may properly reveal Call of Duty 2020, but a prominent Call of Duty franchise leaker has suggested that fans may still have quite awhile to wait before they will get to see the game.

Tom Henderson, who has made a number of accurate Call of Duty leaks in the past, has suggested that the Call of Duty 2020 reveal may not happen until August. Originally, many fans expected the Call of Duty 2020 reveal to happen at the PS5 game event, only for those rumors to turn out to be inaccurate. Since then, fans have had no real idea of when to expect the highly anticipated reveal, but many assumed it would at least come at some point this month.

There could be a couple of reasons as to why Activision has held off on revealing Call of Duty 2020 just yet. One possible reason is that Call of Duty 2020 has reportedly had a troubled development, with one industry insider labeling the game a "mess" in its current state. For the uninitiated, Call of Duty 2020 was originally in development at Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games, with reports indicating that the two studios were having difficulties cooperating. This eventually led Treyarch to be put in charge as the lead studio of the new game, despite the fact that it had just recently launched Black Ops 4 at the time. This gave the studio significantly less time to develop Call of Duty 2020, which would go a long way in explaining the game's supposed development woes.

Another reason could be that Activision just doesn't want to take away from the momentum of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the mega popular Warzone battle royale. Then again, Warzone is said to be a constant for future Call of Duty games, so that seems like an unlikely reason to hold off on the Call of Duty 2020 reveal. In fact, rumors indicate that Warzone itself will be used to reveal Call of Duty 2020 through a special in-game event, so fans should keep an eye out.

Until Activision makes the official reveal, Call of Duty fans will just have to keep speculating about what the upcoming Call of Duty 2020 will entail.

Call of Duty 2020 is in development for unspecified platforms.
