Earlier today, Infinity Ward released the 1.23 Patch update for Season 4 that has brought considerable changes to the game, such as increasing the total amount of available players in online matches and introducing new gameplay mode options to matchmaking. One particular update that has fans talking is the introduction of new weapons for the Gulag.

During matches, players get sent to the Gulag when they first die in order to win a chance at reviving themselves by going up against a random opponent. Players receive a random loadout of weapons that range from shotguns to fists. With the 1.23 update, semi-auto rifles and snipers will be added to the assortment along with a loadout that only uses fists and a throwing knife.

Other weapon changes involve fixing headshot damage for some weapons such as the FAL and Oden, which were sometimes doing less damage than body shots. There are also increased max ammo count for a multitude of guns with specific rounds such as the CR-56 AMAX, SCAR, and the M4. These weapons will also receive more start ammo to accommodate for the change as well.

While some may find the new fist and throwing knife loadout to be a burden, the idea of having a real Russian showdown must sound incredibly appealing to players who genuinely want to test their abilities in the ring. It will be interesting to see if these new weapons either promote or inhibit the gameplay variety within the Gulag, but it'll be an engaging change nonetheless. Hopefully, these new changes keep the Call of Duty: Warzone hype going a little longer as the fanbase can fight to the death to win some more matches.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
