Infinity Ward and Raven Software have no intention of letting Call of Duty: Warzone grow stale and fade away as 2020 rolls on. Season 4 is quickly approaching, and there are plans in place to add more awesome content to Call of Duty: Warzone. While no official details about Warzone's Season 4 have been announced, Raven Software creative director Amos Hodge let slip some juicy details in a recent interview.

Speaking with GamerGen, Hodge confirmed that Warzone would be receiving new modes, describing that Raven Software is "constantly working on modes." New Warzone modes are just the start of Season 4 content, however, as Raven Software will also be delivering new items for players to put in their Warzone loadout. Items that will "add gameplay" to Warzone, including new field upgrades, which Hodge says these additions will add a "new spice" to the game.

Infinity Ward narrative director Taylor Kurosaki also provided some insight into the teams' approach to Warzone. When asked about Warzone having "Fortnite-like events," Kurosaki hedged but expounded on the idea. First saying, "I wouldn't say they're Fortnite-like events," Kurosaki still made clear that Warzone is going to be worth following going forward, with Infinity Ward's and Raven Software's plans still being comparable to the other battle royale. "With Fortnite, you know that the world is ever-evolving and ever-changing so much you kind of don't want to go away from it or you might miss something. It's the same thing with Warzone."

Part of what Kurosaki is implying appears to be framed from a narrative perspective. As its players should understand, Warzone tells a story and connects to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. "We've been setting up this narrative since before Modern Warfare came out," Kurosaki starts. They go on to say how Multiplayer, Spec Ops, and Warzone all exist in a world very unlike the real one. Speaking about this other world's super powers, Kurosaki describes how, "The big what-if with Warzone is that those traditional alliances have broken down, and someone is pulling the strings behind the scenes."

Warzone players as Operators are trying to piece together the mystery of this other world's political mess, who is driving it, and how to solve it. Apparently, they do that through a lot of looting, escaping the Gulag, and surviving until the end of as many matches as possible.

Whether or not players actually agree, Call of Duty: Warzone developers at both Infinity Ward and Raven Software see the battle royale as a growing and evolving experience. One that's even comparable to Fortnite in that regard. Season 4 of Warzone will show exactly what those intentions mean in terms of a playable experience, and Warzone players will find out when Season 4 starts later in May.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
