In a glitch that has affected some players, the Pumpkin Punisher is not being awarded after completing the relevant task, which requires them to find 16 boxes. Players complete their last box simply to find that the weapon just will not unlock. Call of Duty: Warzone fans have several supposed workarounds, but now an official answer is providing insight into the overall problem.
The Pumpkin Punisher is a special Halloween themed blueprint for the GRAU 5.56 assault rifle. Unlocking this weapon is a relatively simple process, as players players just need to find "Treats" in the boxes. A Treat will stand out from other boxes, as the opening animation is accompanied by a flash of fire and a celebratory noise. After all 16 boxes have been found, the Pumpkin Punisher should unlock by itself, but there are several instances where this is not true. Thankfully, there are some answers as to how fans can bypass this as the event continues to tick towards its end.
The first workaround that fans are offered comes from Multiplayer Design Director Joe Cecot. Through Twitter, he disclosed that players could bypass the bug by revisiting each location. There is a chance that a location may not have been tracked properly and a box may display the candy animation.
While this would be time-consuming and relatively annoying, the only other answer is to wait until the event ends. The post-Halloween update should fix all errors involved in this bug and award the gun to any player who has completed the challenge through the tracker.
While both of these options take time, at least there is a solution to this problem. The Pumpkin Punisher is a highly sought after weapon that is already seeing play in Warzone lobbies. The weapon comes packed with extra surprises that far exceed a simple reskin of the popular assault rifle.
