Call of Duty: Warzone Plunder players are beginning to come together in pushing for a major feature to be added to the battle royale. Frustrations regarding the perceived increase in Warzone hackers, mixed with disappointment in Warzone's developers being unable to squash hacking, has led players to look for alternative options. The next best thing would be, in Plunder players' eyes, the fixing and expansion of one currently rather broken feature -- kill cams.

With hacking being common and trust in hackers to eventually be banned diminishing, Warzone players are placing their faith in the one feature available to them: player reporting. However, in Warzone and particularly Plunder mode, kill cams are broken. They trigger rarely, if at all. That means that players are left blind with regard to verifying whether they were killed through illicit means or not by themselves, while kill cams provide that opportunity.

When kill cams are broken or work through a system too unclear for players to understand, players don't stop using player reporting. Player reporting just becomes that much more unreliable, as players report opponents regardless of whether they're cheating. Egregious cheaters still get caught, but less obvious ones have more of a smoke screen. A more robust kill cam feature could improve that.

Frustrations over the issue are common on social media including Twitter and Reddit, as well as on Twitch streams. The kill cam problem is, and always has been, a common complaint in Call of Duty: Warzone. The lack of response from Infinity Ward and Raven Software is unfortunately expected. That's not to say that player frustrations would go away if Warzone's developers addressed them, however.

The root of the problem, of course, isn't kill cams. The problem remains hackers in Call of Duty: Warzone, particularly in skill-based matchmaking. Hackers can ruin anyone's match. And after having a match ruined, there's no transparency regarding whether those hackers are eventually banned or not. Players are left to blame systems that may actually be working well or grasping for some perceived way of making the situation better. Unfortuntely, there's no obvious solution to this problem.

Cheaters are in every competitive game online, particularly first-person shooters. Valorant struggles with cheaters, even with its more robust anti-cheat. Hyper Scape is newly available and is already struggling with cheaters. It's an unfortunate reality. But developers can, and should, maintain transparent communication with players and focus on features that can improve the player experience even in small ways.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
