Call of Duty: Warzone fans have been free from overpowered guns for some time now, though the recent arrival of the MG 82 has changed that. However, the new LMG’s reign of terror will be very short, as Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has confirmed that a nerf is already in the works.

Part of the Season 4 battle pass, the MG 82 is a free unlock for all players. Those that have tried it have been shocked by the weapon, as it boasts perfect accuracy, great range, and an absurd fire rate. Further, while the gun’s description claims that it only does moderate damage, fans are finding that the combination of fast bullet velocity and a high fire rate allows it to shred through enemies. With LMGs having large magazine sizes as well, there is no downside to the weapon beyond a slowed sprint speed.

With a single, negligible weakness alongside its countless strengths, the Call of Duty: Warzone community has wasted no time labeling the gun as overpowered. However, Raven Software has responded to these claims with similar speed, assuring fans that a patch is on the way. Making light of the situation on Twitter, Raven jokes that the MG 82 was upgraded using Call of Duty Zombies’ Pack-A-Punch machine. With upgrades like that being “off limits” in the battle royale game, a nerf is already on the way.

While Raven Software provides no ETA for this nerf, gamers can expect it sooner rather than later. Much like the Streetsweeper shotgun changes, gamers can also anticipate that the MG 82 will take a big hit whenever the patch does come. With the Sykov being another example of just how effective Raven’s recent nerfs have been, the update will likely see the LMG’s pick rate dropping drastically. With no time wasted when it comes to making the change, fans can expect the more diverse meta from Season 3 to return in the near future.

However, while this is good news for most Call of Duty: Warzone fans, some players feel that the nerf is coming too soon. This has become an increasingly common belief with recent nerfs, as some gamers seem to enjoy using an overpowered gun for a few weeks. One of these players is loadout expert and FaZe co-owner NICKMERCS, as the streamer and YouTuber shared his disappointment with the nerf on Twitter. While nobody wants something that lasts as long as the DMR or FFAR meta, it seems like a small portion of the player base does enjoy making use of broken weapons.

With the gun’s days on top numbered, though, players should make use of their MG 82 classes while they still can. As soon as the nerf hits, this Season 4 weapon will likely become a shell of its former self.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
