When Call of Duty: Warzone released its Season 5 update, several secret additions were made to the map. While fans have discovered most of what the game has to offer, other features went completely unnoticed. Recently, Warzone fans noticed a small explosive detail hidden across the wide map of Verdansk.

Although it was left out of the patch notes, the explosive canisters found across the map were carefully placed to make them blend in with the environment. It is not that they are not obvious, but more of their locations are places where fans would expect a barrel to be. These barrels are only one of many hidden features scattered across the map after the update.

In the video, two Warzone fans find one of the bright red gas canisters. After picking up the barrel, they walk several feet before throwing it up in the air and attempting to shoot it. After missing, they focus in on it on the ground and watch as it explores into a beautiful mix of flames and shrapnel. These explosive canisters have obvious battlefield applications, and could change the strategy of some clever fans for unique ambush level operations in Warzone.

Throwable canisters have been found throughout the entire map. Due to the strength of the operators, they can be thrown fairly far and when shot explode with a large radius of damage. Players have even noted that when they drop the canister they can occasionally get a "start a fuse" prompt allowing the explosion to be put on a delayed timer.

A variant of the canister has been found on the map bearing a yellow paint instead of a red. These explode into a cloud of toxic gas, similar to the zone, that would presumably damage Warzone players over time for existing within it. Although these barrels could be useful in combat, it seems like they are designed for ambush style encounters rather then direct confrontations.

The explosive canisters do exist in multiple playmodes for Warzone but there is currently to telling how rare they are. The number that appear on the map would determine the overall effect they have on the game's playstyle, but with Inifinity Ward keeping them secret, there is no telling how many might be out there. Until then, players can find the various explosive across the map and will no doubt find ways to exploit their explosive potential.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
