Players looking to get more out of Call of Duty: Warzone have suggested that Infinity Ward adds a new item to the popular Battle Royale mode. The proposed item would be a rangefinder that could be used as an item that gives players a closer look at what's happening in the distance with a number of advantages for co-op and adding new options for the best loadouts currently available.
Originally suggested on Reddit by user u/aedanerickson, the rangefinder would take the place of the tactical equipment for loadouts in Call of Duty: Warzone. Considering how often this slot becomes occupied by the heartbeat sensor, the proposed item is intended to act as an alternative and open up the game's meta and make a big change to loadout drops.
The main idea behind the rangefinder is that it would act as a way for players to see at distances like a scope, but without the lens flare that gives away positions when sniping. Since the item wouldn't be usable with a gun, it would act more as a scouting device so that players aren't running into firefights or protected areas and being caught by surprise. While it's not likely that this item will be picked up by Infinity Ward in time to be implemented for the start of Warzone's delayed Season 4, it could still come at some point in the following months.

As games evolve over multiple season's like Infinity Ward's most recent Call of Duty has, making sure to balance the Call of Duty meta becomes one of the most challenging tasks for a developer. However, balance is exactly what the rangefinder is looking to bring to the game, and while it may not come right away or in the form players might expect it, some changes to tactical equipment might be a step towards ensuring Warzone remains a successful Battle Royale.
Fan requests and suggestions are often hit or miss, especially for huge games like Call of Duty: Warzone where players request features on a nearly daily basis. Beyond that, Warzone is only part of the conversation, as any balance made to the Battle Royale mode can also affect how the connected Call of Duty: Modern Warfare plays without realizing it. So if Infinity Ward does begin to consider bringing a rangefinder into the game, it may be some time before players get to start pulling it from loot crates and loadout drops.
