As many players assumed prior to launch, the recently released Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has introduced a huge array of new gameplay implementations that set the game apart from its predecessor. While many of these changes are completely new innovations for the franchise, many are simply elements of gameplay that have carried over from the first game and have been built upon.

It is no secret that field upgrades are a huge aspect of Call of Duty: Warzone 2, being staples of the first Warzone and the rebooted Modern Warfare series as a whole. A plethora of brand-new field upgrades has been introduced to the new title, offering untold fresh possibilities in gameplay and tactics.

Field upgrades are vitally important abilities that can be used in Warzone 2, and can often make all the difference in a firefight. Field upgrades exist separately from standard equipment, being visibly stored as a large icon on a player's HUD that can be activated at any time during gameplay once acquired.

Field upgrades offer some of the most advantageous mechanics that can be found in Call of Duty's battle royale experience. Thanks to the arrival of Warzone 2, there are a plethora of new opportunities for players to explore.

Warzone 2: Revive Pistol

The revive pistol field upgrade is brand-new to Warzone 2 and is one of the most well-received fresh additions to the game. Like all field upgrades, the revive pistol can be found anywhere in Al Mazrah and is perfect for use when a team is under pressure.

In short, the revive pistol of Warzone 2 allows players to revive teammates from a distance simply by shooting them, with the pistol holding four shots in total. This allows players to revive teammates from a distance, while still being able to move and engage enemies while the otherwise lengthy revive process is happening.

Warzone 2: Portable Radar and DDoS

Another new field upgrade is the portable radar, which makes ascertaining some of the most important information within Warzone 2 matches all the easier. Portable radars essentially act as mini UAVs, emitting periodical pings that paint enemies on the mini-map over a more intimate location, being a perfect tactical utility in tight and densely populated areas.

The DDoS is another new field upgrade in Warzone 2, which again is perfect for use in crowded areas of the map. Upon activation, the DDoS emits an electric-disrupting wave across the near vicinity, greatly disrupting enemy sensors and electrical-based equipment for a short time.

Warzone 2: Suppression Mine, Battle Rage, and Inflatable Decoy

The suppression mine field upgrade acts as a kind of long-lasting flashbang that can be planted on the floor, only being activated when an enemy steps over it. Then, Battle Rage is one of the more unique new field upgrades, taking the form of an "experimental stimulant" that can offer some serious short-term advantages in combat. When activated, Battle Rage will grant the player a brief period of faster health regeneration, complete resistance to tactical equipment, and constant tactical sprint.

The final new field upgrade in Warzone 2 is the inflatable decoy. Upon activation, the inflatable decoy takes the form of a life-size operator, standing in place to confuse and distract any potential hostiles that may be about to storm a player's position. While the pre-existing field upgrades of the first Warzone have carried over into the sequel, it is clear that the new additions of Warzone 2 have earned their place at the forefront of the game's field upgrade metas.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
