Call of Duty: Modern Warfare enjoyed a successful launch this past October, and has kept the content coming with its first season of the battle pass and its many included extras. Yet there's one thing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare doesn't have that fans keep on speculating about: whether or not a battle royale mode is coming to the first-person shooter.
Modern Warfare's season 1 is winding down now with only a few weeks left, and the game has already had its fair share of leaks over season 2's content--including new maps, modes, weapons, and more. Whether or not a battle royale mode (the existence of which has been repeatedly leaked from the very beginning) is coming as part of season 2's content or even later remains to be seen.
Now, a brand new leak from The Gaming Revolution has surfaced: an image, supposedly one of the loading screens from Modern Warfare's as-yet unconfirmed battle royale mode. The image itself depicts a fairly diverse environment with water, docks, a park and a cityscape in the foreground, while a more rural mountain range sits in the background. Given everything in the leaked image, it might be an indicator that battle royale mode will have quite a bit of geological flavor for players to explore. Then again, it's also totally possible that the environment in the image won't make it to the final cut of battle royale mode; it's important to remember that these leaks come with no guarantees.
The big question is when battle royale mode will be announced for real; given just how much about it has leaked (and how much fans are looking forward to one), it seems like a safe assumption that it'll be coming sooner or later. However, it might not arrive with season 2's content at all--it could come later in the year, should developers decide to take their time in perfecting it. Rumors about battle royale mode have been following Modern Warfare since its October launch, and now that it's been a few months, it can only be a matter of time.
Overall, the odds of battle royale mode arriving sometime in 2020 are pretty good, and if this season 2 leak is anything to go by, perhaps it's not so far away after all.
