In just a few hours the Activision Blizzard will begin their 2011 Q1 earnings call where it's expected they will reveal details for one or possibly even two of their upcoming Call of Duty games. Recent rumors pointed towards the possibility of something for the PC centric gamers, while other outlets are hyping up an imminent announcement of Modern Warfare 3.

Before the call even begins, rumors are already pointing the a Modern Warfare 3 release date of November 8th, falling in line with previous years' release dates for the series.

Eurogamer is hearing from "multiple sources" that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will in fact release on November 8, 2011, the Tuesday of the same week each of the last several years for the franchise. Black Ops hit shelves on the 9th in 2010 and Modern Warfare 2 on the 10th of 2009.

That's the obvious and unsurprising part, but what's interesting is that the Tesco (European retailer) database refers to the next Call of Duty installment as Call of Duty: Project Colossus. Is that just a placeholder? A codename for the next title? Or something new to replace the obvious "Modern Warfare 3" subtitle. If that is indeed the title of the next game, perhaps it is possible that it's a Ghost-centric prequel to the Modern Warfare games. We do know the voice actor was in LA recently recording for something major that would be announced soon.

While Mass Effect 3 was pushed back from November to early 2012, Project Colossus will still be taking a spot in an overcrowded November which currently contains Battlefield 3The Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimUncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Minecraft (if that counts) and possibly a few other like Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and X-Men: Destiny.

Would you like to see Ghost as the protagonist of the next Call of Duty or would you rather play Modern Warfare 3 with a few flashback missions featuring the fan-favorite warrior?

The Activision Blizzard First Quarter Calendar 2011 Results Conference Call takes place today at 1:30 PM PT. Listen in here.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty Online both remain unannounced.
