Call of Duty: Black Ops is packed with a ton of features, some of which are our old favorites like the killstreaks and hopefully a tough as nails campaign. Beyond that, Treyarch has added some features that are popular in other multiplayer games, like split screen online multiplayer, in order to produce a more robust experience.

CVG has an exclusive video of one of the game’s new features, the Theater Mode. It should seem pretty familiar to multiplayer gamers, but it adds a few clever flourishes to make it its own entity.

Functioning much like the Theater Mode in Halo: Reach, this version allows players to record and then fast forward, rewind, and pause through any of their previous matches. Camera placement can be fixed or floating, allowing gamers to see just how lucky that grenade toss that killed them was. With the added ability to take the game camera anywhere, players can perhaps start creating their own machinima series within the world of Black Ops.

As an added bonus, the theater mode places markers along the video timeline that indicate moments of importance. Red lines indicate a death and green lines indicate a kill allowing for easier jumping to that controversial moment that you want to take a look at.

While not exactly a new concept, Theater Mode is just one of the many features that is sure to make the experience of Black Ops’ multiplayer a rich one. From the zombie mode to the Wager Match, there should be plenty of moments worth recording for all your friends to see. With only a little over a week to go before the game’s release, get your pre-orders for the decked out Prestige Edition now.

What do you think of the Theater Mode in Black Ops? Does it too closely resemble other game’s multiplayer theaters or is it just right?
