The Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike hype train is chugging along at full speed as the February 1, 2011, release date quickly approaches. With just a few days left till its release, promotional material keeps coming in through our mailbox as reminder that First Strike is on its way.
While a map pack trailer was released a little over a week ago, today’s iteration is an Inside Xbox Preview where Ryan Treit sits down (virtually) with Treyarch’s Online Director Dan Bunting and Game Design Director David Vonderhaar. Together they give a look inside the rationale behind the new multiplayer maps awaiting players with the release First Strike.
Unlike practically every other trailer connected to Black Ops, this video is happily sans Rolling Stones:
Also included were a number of screenshots showing off the environments included in the map pack. In order they are:
Finally, there is a cool promotional poster-esque image for First Strike which has a strong focus on playing up Ascension, the new Zombies map, with the inclusion of a wide variety of monkey zombies:
The Ascension map, also included with the First Strike DLC, is a new Zombies map that takes place in what appears to be a Soviet Cosmodrome. This may explain the monkey-like zombies within, although it may be prudent to note that Russia didn’t send its first monkey into space until December 13, 1983, well outside the timeline of the game. Then again, maybe they never sent monkys up sooner because their facilities were busy being overrun by monkey zombies. A plausible story, no doubt explored in full with the Ascension Zombies map.
Which map are you most looking forward to playing?
