After months of anticipation leading up to the reveal, Treyarch has finally shown off details of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode with a "first look" video on YouTube, along with a detailed blog post. The campaign in Cold War is not quite a reboot, instead being a sequel to the original Black Ops with some significant changes and upgrades. But Zombies within Cold War is being described as "A New Beginning," and it starts with a re-imagining of the classic map Nacht der Untoten.

Nacht der Untoten is an iconic map, considered by many to be one of the best in Call of Duty Zombies. But the area was very small, as it was the first Zombies map and designed with the quick arcade round-based gameplay in mind. The new map Die Maschine "is more than a nod" to Nacht der Untoten, as the old map seems to be placed directly in the middle of the new Cold War level.

During the reveal of Zombies for Black Ops Cold War, the team explained that Die Maschine will take place in the early '80s, but it has a history that extends much further in the past than that. The game and level will take place during the Cold War, but the easter eggs and secrets will be returning, so players will be able to find out the maps mysterious like in previous games. The newest video reveals tons of footage of players traversing through the new map.

Zombies is starting afresh in Black Ops Cold War, which includes a brand new narrative and cast of characters. During the reveal, the developers remind fans that the cast of Black Ops 4 sacrificed themselves in hopes to stop the zombie outbreak for good. Unfortunately, the undead are still alive, and a new cast is tasked with uncovering the mind-bending narrative. With Die Maschine, the CIA-backed response team named Requiem investigates a World War II bunker that holds shocking decades-old secrets. That bunker is a graffiti-covered Nacht der Untoten, bringing things full circle.

While the old cast will certainly be missed, the new characters and story in Cold War Zombies look to be intriguing thus far. The team also isn't alone, as not only are zombies crawling throughout the Nacht der-Untoten based new map, a Soviet Omega Group is also attempting to explore the mysteries.

The anticipation level is high for Black Ops Cold War, coming off the massive success of the rebooted Modern Warfare. The multiplayer alpha of Cold War saw record numbers, and more details of said multiplayer, campaign, and now zombies continue to emerge, adding to the excitement.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13th for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
