Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans have been waiting patiently for Season 4 Reloaded, and thankfully, that wait has come to an end. Today, the big midseason update released for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and it brings plenty of exciting additions to the mode. While the most obvious is the game’s new map, the additions go beyond the launch of Mauer Der Toten.

Some much-needed balancing changes have seen Sniper Rifles and melee weapons buffed, while Zombie health has been nerfed in the high rounds. A Dynamic Wall Buy mechanic has been added, too, with wall weapons now moving up in weapon rarity as the rounds progress. Alongside these important balancing changes, Treyarch is introducing a new Wonder Weapon, perk, and equipment piece, with more PlayStation exclusive content also on the way. For the first time in a while, the Zombies community has a lot of fresh content to dig into.

Season 4 Reloaded’s Mauer Der Toten Map And CRBR-S Wonder Weapon

black ops cold war season 4 reloaded update release date

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s biggest Season 4 Reloaded addition is Mauer Der Toten itself. Set in Berlin, players fight in the city streets and subway system that surround the Berlin Wall. Ziplines take them from high buildings to the ground below, while a new AI companion named Klaus battles by their side as gamers struggle to survive. With new enemy types as well, the core gameplay loop of the map is a lot of fun.

From a story perspective, players can expect to have a different voice guiding them through the map’s main mission. Instead of Weaver, Requiem’s agents will be following the orders of Kravchenko. Having captured Requiem after Outbreak’s Season 4 quest was complete, the Omega leader is forcing them to assassinate a traitor named Valentina. With the Omega turncoat’s goal being to open the Dark Aether and let a Nazi army back into Berlin, working with Omega certainly seems more appealing than the alternative.

As is the case with any Call of Duty Zombies map, the Wonder Weapon will surely play a big role in its popularity. Fortunately, it Mauer Der Toten’s CRBR-S lives up to the hype, as it offers some fun ways to slay the undead. Pronounced Cerberus, the gun gets its name from the three barrels that gamers can use to upgrade it. In its default form, it is a fully automatic energy pistol that has a companion sphere which will fire alongside the player. The CRBR-S also has a shotgun-like form, a seeker rocket form, and a laser form. While some are undoubtedly better than others, all are fun to test out.

Season 4 Reloaded’s Mule Kick Perk And LT53 Kazimir Equipment

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ new perk takes the form of Mule Kick, a classic drink that debuted back in the first Black Ops game. As expected, it keeps its main functionality of letting players hold three weapons. Thanks to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s perk tiers, though, players can upgrade the new version of Mule Kick to unlock some extra abilities. These include some fully original boosts tied to crafting as well as the return of Mule Kick’s Modifier from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Aspects of the Bandolier Bandit perk also feature.

Mule Kick’s perk tiers in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are as follows.

  • Tier 1: Crafted equipment will provide players with an extra piece of equipment if possible.
  • Tier 2: All enemies have a small chance to drop ammunition.
  • Tier 3: Stowed weaponry slowly refills ammo from the stock.
  • Tier 4: There is a 25% chance that non-retrievable equipment will return to the player after it has been thrown.
  • Tier 5: Third weapons are recovered once Mule Kick has been repurchased.

Alongside a new perk, Season 4 Reloaded is adding an extra piece of equipment for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players to make use of. This takes the form of the LT53 Kazimir tactical grenade. However, while it may boast a new name, its functionality is the exact same as the Gersh Device that debuted on Ascension. Once players throw the Kazimir, it will suck all nearby Zombies inside, killing them instantly. Players will also be able to jump through the black hole themselves, teleporting to a random spot somewhere on the map. While this is risky, the Kazimir should still serve as a solid get out of jail free card for gamers that find themselves stuck in a bad position.

Season 4 Reloaded’s PlayStation Exclusive Zombies Content And Other Additions

Season 4 continues the trend of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s PlayStation exclusive content. As has been the case thus far, this is entirely limited to the Onslaught game mode. Gamers will be able to play on a new Onslaught map in Season 4 Reloaded, with Rush from multiplayer joining the map lineup. While killing the undead inside of a paintball arena will certainly be an interesting change, it is not all that will be coming to Zombies Onslaught in the midseason update.

Alongside a new weapon blueprint challenge, a variant of the Zombie Onslaught mode called Onslaught Accelerated. This mode directly addresses complaints of Onslaught being too slow, as Zombies will spawn in endlessly. The Dark Aether Orb is constantly moving, and killing enemies will only make it move faster, ensuring that players never stop moving during Onslaught Accelerated. While this may not be as exciting as Mauer Der Toten, it does seem like a nice bonus for PlayStation owners.

On the smaller side of things, the heavily underrated Dead Ops Arcade 3 will be getting a new playlist. First Person Solo Advanced Start allows players to play the first person version of the arcade game on their own, keeping their progress upon reaching a new location. With both First Person and Advanced Start being less difficult than regular Dead Ops, combining the two should make for the easiest experience yet. As such, Reunited with Fidolina may not be one of Call of Duty’s hardest trophies for much longer. A “Mama’s Armory Basket” drop has also been teased, though it is unclear what it will do. New Zombies challenges and story intel round out the long list of additions, ensuring that there is plenty to do until Season 5 begins.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
