Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ new Mauer Der Toten map features another main quest for gamers to complete. Fortunately, it is similar to other Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War easter eggs in the sense that it is on the easy side.

A conscious decision on the part of Treyarch, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s easy easter eggs are a result of many players ignoring the quests in past games. With so much work going into their creation, making sure that more of the community can handle the easter eggs is understandable. While some may prefer the old style, those that have enjoyed the past few quests should be happy to know that Mauer Der Toten’s main easter egg is brief and fair. While the boss fight provides a decent challenge, it should be manageable for players who coordinate properly.

Step 1: Building Klaus And Getting The Free CRBR-S

After players have activated power and turned on the Pack-A-Punch machine, they will want to progress through the map as normal. This means building Klaus and securing the CRBR-S Wonder Weapon, as both are required to make progress in the main quest. For Klaus, players will want to collect the battery from the first Krasny Soldat. It drops from the mini boss once killed. Next, they will need Klaus’ hands, which require a weapon with the Brain Rot ammo mod to access. Once players have their upgraded weapon, they can head to Room 305. If a Zombie is Turned in this room, it will break down the boarded-up door, letting players pick up Klaus’ hands off the bed. They can then build Klaus in the Subway’s Safe House.

Once Klaus has been built, gamers will want to direct him over to the Switch Control Room near the Safe House. Specifically, gamers should point him in front of the locker that is marked with a 0. He will then break this locker, with players able to pick up a flashlight upgrade from inside. With the blacklight, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players will want to head to the following areas in this order: Garment Factory, Service Passage, and Grocery Store. In each area, they will want to find two numbers on the wall using the blacklight. They should then memorize these numbers, as they are part of a six-digit code.

Once players have found two numbers in each of the three locations, they can head up to Room 305 where they picked up Klaus’ hands. The numbers can then be put into the Room 305 safe. Garment Factory’s are for the first dial, Service Passage’s are for the second, and Grocery Store’s numbers are for the third. Once all dials have been set correctly, the safe will open and players can collect the free CRBR-S. Only one person can pick up the Wonder Weapon, however, as the others will have to get lucky with Trials or the Mystery Box.

Step 2: Building The Headgear And Breaking The Wall

With Klaus built and the CRBR-S secured, players can begin making progress on the actual quest. Collecting the Klaus headgear pieces is simple enough, as players need to shoot three items around the map. First, gamers should head to the Apartment Rooftop where they spawned in, shooting the pylon on top with the CRBR-S so that it drops a part. Players can then pick up the piece and head to the next area. Next, if players take the main staircase down to the Ghost Station, they should be able to see a metal box on the far left well. It is to the left of the yellow telephone box, and shooting it with the Wonder Weapon reveals the next part. The final piece is found in the Electronics Shop where players can collect a cassette tape for the Easter Egg Song. There will be three metal radio boxes in the shop’s rooms that players can shoot with the talking gun, and one will drop the piece.

Once all are collected, gamers can head down to Klaus to attach the headgear. They will then want to activate him and take him over to Sewer Access section of the Subway. Players can find a suspicious brick wall here, with the mini map showing a large room on the other side. If Klaus is brought near this wall, he will destroy it so that players can continue progressing. Gamers will then want to get the blue laser variant for the CRBR-S called the Blazer. They can then use it to burn down the metal barricade behind the wall Klaus broke. Players can then enter a secret Endstation lab, and after a round has passed, gamers can begin the next step.

Step 3: The Green Canisters

After Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players have waited a round, they should be able to pick up three canisters from a device in the center of the room. These can then be taken to one of several locations, with players needing to check the various spawn points to see which drop-off device they have. All take the form of metal crates with green glowing bits, making them easy to spot. The locations are as follows.

  • Drop-Off Point 1: In the Ghost Station, right below where the second Klaus headgear piece was collected.
  • Drop-Off Point 2: In the small pathway between the Juggernog machine and the Electronics store. A zipline is found here.
  • Drop-Off Point 4: Up against a window in the Destroyed Penthouse. The window is in the room to the right of the zipline that goes down to the Grocery Store.
  • Drop-Off Point 5: Another drop-off can be seen on the Korber rooftop behind the red sign. It is straight across from Speed Cola.
  • Drop-Off Point 6: Another drop-off point spawn is found in the West Berlin Street. As soon as players cross the barricade from Checkpoint Charlie, it will be on their right propped against a white door.
  • Drop-Off Point 7: The final known spot for a drop-off point is to the left of a wall-buy in Sewer Access. It will be up against a wooden palette.

After players have found their three drop points, they can place a canister in each. They can then head back to the Secret Lab, and they should see a small machine on the wall to the right of the device. If they shoot it, an essence trap from Firebase Z’s main quest will appear. Players can then pick this up and bring it to one of their canister drop-off points. If they activate the trap in front of the canister, Tempests will spawn in. If they are killed, the canister will turn purple, signifying that it has been filled. Players then need to run this cannister back to the device they got it from in the Secret Lab.

Like the bunny escort in Outbreak’s Season 4 quest, or the Retrieve objective in that mode, players can use L1 and R1 to blast away enemies. Players need to repeat this process for the other two canisters, bringing the full purple versions back to the Secret Lab device. Once done, they can begin the next step.

Step 4: Upgrading Klaus And Stopping The Train

Players will then want to upgrade Klaus, which can be done by picking up the Radar Dish from the death strip. If players dig up the bone piles in the mud that surrounds Checkpoint Charlie, which is a neat callback to Origins from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, they will eventually get the Dish to drop. From there, they can install it on the machine in the Garment Factory. Klaus can then be directed in front of this machine to step into it, and after a minute-long section where players must protect him, he will step out of the device with a stronger gun. Players do not have to do his cosmetic upgrades, as this first upgrade is all that is required. If Klaus will not get in the machine, players should let him rack up Zombie kills, as he needs to hit about 50 beforehand. However, he will likely have done this naturally already.

With the upgraded Klaus, gamers will want to head to the Switch Control Room where they got the blacklight. They then want to pull the lever near the board that is covered in lights. Players will then want to direct Klaus to the train tracks furthest away from the Mule Kick machine. If done correctly, he will stand in the center, stopping the Ghost Train as it approaches. Players then need to get on the train car, collecting a Warhead from a crate and a keycard from a chair. Gamers can also collect a piece of intel, making for three items in total that can be picked up from this train subway car. With the items collected, players will want to head back onto the Secret Lab and place the warhead on the main device. They then want to head to the Safe House and cycle through the computer until they see the option “Activate the Disruptor Satellite.” They should not press the button, however, until they understand the next step.

Step 5: Collecting Uranium

black ops cold war season 4 reloaded update release date

During the Uranium step, players need to go to the tent to the right of the Trials machine. They can then press the computer to beam down an HVT, which is a stronger enemy usually fought in Outbreak. It will take the form of a Megaton, and after players whittle down its health, they will need to kill its two halves. Once they are dead, two pieces of Uranium are dropped, and players need to bring them to the crafting table on the left of the tent’s computer. A device can then be crafted. In co-op, another player should make and hold a second device.

The players will want to take one device to the Korber rooftop that holds Speed Cola and the other to the rooftop across from it. They then want to place the devices on both ziplines at the same time, forcing them to smash into each other. The broken devices will drop a part that lands in the center of the street below. In solo, players will have to craft both devices, running to one zipline, placing it, and then returning to the tent to craft another. With players on a timer during this step, they should only begin it when they are ready.

Once players pick up the Cleansed Uranium from the city street, they will want to take it back down to the Secret Lab. After placing it on the central device with the Warhead, they will want to complete the round. On the next round, they will repeat the same process, with the only difference being a new spawn point for the HVT. They also need to activate the satellite from a different computer, with the tent in East Berlin Street and the Safe House satellite being the options. After the HVT is dead, players can craft the devices and make the second piece of Cleansed Uranium using the Korber zipline. However, before placing it down in the Secret Lab, players should craft any items they need. They should also make sure they have used Pack-A-Punch to fully upgrade their weapons. Once they are prepared, they can place the Uranium down to enter into the Mauer Der Toten boss fight.

Step 6: The Valentina Boss Fight

cod black ops cold war mauer der toten pack a punch

Valentina will come out of the large blue device seen in the Secret Lab, and her battle serves as the toughest part of the easter egg. On the bright side, the final fight is not timed like in Outbreak’s first main quest. Players will want to watch out for several attacks, the first of which sees her summoning Zombies that will refill her health. They will be floating, showing players which enemies need to be prioritized. Her second attack sees her summoning balls of fire above her head, with the fire shredding through armor. As such, players should get in cover when they see it. Finally, and most importantly, Valentina has a wipe mechanic. Players will see glowing light on their screen when it is about to happen, and to avoid it, they need to get out of her line of sight. To do this, they should take cover behind cars or in buildings.

Outside of avoiding Valentina’s attacks, players will want to keep breaking her shield and draining her health bar. After enough damage is dealt, she will move to a new location, giving players time to refill armor and craft new equipment before continuing the fight. With Valentina being a bullet sponge, this is a long and grueling encounter. As such, players will need to stay focused, making use of the best Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies weapons as they fight. Death Machines are also recommended, as they do significant damage to her. Once she is on her last phase, she will return to the Secret Lab, and players can finish her off. Afterwards, they need to protect Klaus as he enters the portal, and once he has, the easter egg will be finished.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
