Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has received several patches over the past few weeks, and with Season 2 coming soon, there's likely to be a few more. In the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update, Treyarch addressed issues in several game modes.

The first changes mentioned tie into Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s new competitive mode, as another League Play restriction has been added. Going forward, players will not be able to use the RC-XD scorestreak in ranked play, with the explosive RC car banned from the lineup of legal scorestreaks. With several restrictions already being added and the community requesting more, it seems unlikely that the RC-XD will be the last Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War item to be removed from League Play.

Other changes to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s League Play see the mode adopting a hardcore ruleset in terms of friendly fire. After the second team kill, players will take ricochet damage, and two further team kills will lead to careless players being kicked from the match. With this having a negative effect on ranks, players will want to be incredibly careful with their bullets and explosives going forward. A new display was added to show “results processing,” and various HUD elements were improved upon. Glitches involving League Play ladder scrolling and events were also fixed.

Outside of League Play, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War received some general multiplayer fixes related to Calling Cards. An important bug fix also came for the Express multiplayer map, as the fan-favorite location’s Hardpoint gameplay was fixed. Previously, players could capture points despite being outside of the designated area, leading to some unfair scenarios that fans should no longer have to deal with after this update. No other changes are mentioned for multiplayer.

Lastly, Treyarch detailed some fixes for Firebase Z. It appears Firebase Z’s game-breaking bug that saw players fall under the map in the Village area has been fixed, with the issue supposedly caused “when others used the teleporter.” A popular exploit where players could stand on top of crafting tables has been removed, ensuring online games remain fun and fair. Finally, an annoying visual glitch that showed Arsenal upgrades being greyed out despite players having enough resources to acquire them has been fixed.

The last mention in the patch notes detailed the addition of a “seasons” icon for Firebase Z’s challenges. A minor quality of life change that makes the calling cards related to Call of Duty Zombies’ new intel easier to track, the small change will likely still be appreciated by fans.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
